1. Giuliani has made many media appearances in just the past couple weeks. His comments during those appearances have been very political in nature.
2. Cheney's comments have been curiously unrestrained and overreaching recently. His comments sound like the kind of comments he would make if he were not up for reelection.

First off, Cheney hasn't ever really run things, in the sense that most people here attribute to him. He's merely the point man for the cabal of people who do run this country. That cabal does include Cheney, but it also includes Poppy Bush, Baker, and others. Cheney won't have to be "fired"; hell this whole thing is probably his idea anyway. It works out great for an administration that is beginning to wear thin with the American voter. The script will go something like this: Cheney can resign from the ticket at the convention, citing health reasons. (those are obvious) Rudy can than be chosen by the delegates, causing joyous celebration in Manhattan, and bringing much needed moderates and independents into the party. During the campaign all negatives are laid at Cheney's feet, i.e., the Plame affair was his leak, the "misinterpetation" of intel leading to * push for war was Cheney's doing, pissing off Europe was Cheney's fault, etc, etc. Hell, poor innocent Georgie will probably blame his AWOL on Dick leading him astray.

Bush wins easily. After the election, Cheney is pardoned (for health reasons) of all wrong doing. Cheney cashs in his Haliburton stock options, and sits fat, rich, and easy helping Poppy run things by remote control.

Rudy, citing health resasons, declines to run in 2008, allowing Jeb to fullfill his destiny, and Poppy's desires.

There's a big fly in this ointment, and that's the religious right. If they have enough people at the convention, Rudy's gonna have difficulty getting selected. If it starts to be rumored about that Cheney may not be on the ticket, the religious right will begin agitating for their man to be placed on the ticket, and they have their man already identified, and he's already an important part of *s cabinet. Yes, people we are talking about Calico Johnny. If * "dumps" Cheney, and DOESN'T select Ashcroft he loses his conservative base. If the Democratic ticket has a strong southern, pro-military flavor to it, I think we could actually win a couple of the southern states.
