See what pops up.

W. Patrick Lang, the former chief of Middle East intelligence at the D.I.A., said, “The Pentagon has banded together to dominate the government’s foreign policy, and they’ve pulled it off. They’re running Chalabi. The D.I.A. has been intimidated and beaten to a pulp. And there’s no guts at all in the C.I.A.”

1. My thoughts exactly
A REAL President would have immediately demanded a full scale investigation of this major screw up, but no...

(And ditto for 9/11... FDR demanded a full scale investigation of Pearl Harbor right after the attack)

2. come on......if you were a DA, say, and you committed a crime,
would you empanel a grand jury to investigate said crime?

they KNOW all the answers, just as they do with the Plame affair.

they're venal, crude, arrogant, delusional, (add your own pejoratives), but they're not overtly suicical

3. At the Kay hearing this morning,
Kay was asked if thought there should be an independent investigation of the WMD stuff. He hesitated to answer, admitted politics was involved in this whole thing, but said that the only way to get to the bottom of this was to have an independent investigation.

After I heard Wolf Blitzer's Man on the Hill reporting on the hearings, I don't think we will ever see on TV the important things for the Democrats that David Kay said. Blitzer's Man on the Hill made it sound like Senator Kennedy and the other dems were badgering the poor guy.

It might be worth it if someone could post the transcript of today's hearings.
