Carl Levin Rocks!
Did any of you see him HAMMERING the administration about its prewar claims that Iraq possessed WMD? It was during his questioning of Kay in today's Intelligence Committee Session. It was great! He broke out all the choice prewar quotes from Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell.

"Simply stated there is no doubt that IRAQ POSSESSES...."

"We know for a FACT....."

"Let there be NO DOUBT....."

"We KNOW where they are...."

Etc, etc... Levin was playin' all the hits!

I wanted to stand and cheer!

Kennedy and Clinton also deserve praise for their tough questions of Kay.

4. Carl = Droopy Dog
Most people look at him and his lack of animated character and assume he is a lost cause. But he just keeps at it. He keeps pounding away. In the end when the Bush cartel is being lead away in chains you will see Carl there with the paper work damning them.

8. I agree.
Senators Kennedy and Clinton were also excellent. Also Sen. Mark Dayton of MN.

9. I just remembered what Sen. Dayton
was asking Kay about. Damn, I think it was Dayton -- don't quote me on that. Anyway a Dem Senator asked him how many countries he thought had weapons of mass destruction related program activities. Kay said he didn't want to answer because whatever he said would come back to haunt him many times over. The Senator said just give me a broad estimate. David Kay answered about 50 countries. Dayton said does that mean that we can attack those 50 countries pre-emptively. Kay said, oh, no. They have to have the "intent".

Now if someone was going to have to decide whether or not we go to war based on their opinion of what a country's "intent" is, I sure want it to be someone a whole lot more intelligent than George W. Bush*.

10. Now explain why Hillary gave Kay such a handjob?
Hillary wasn't even on the same page as the rest of her party.
Gee Dave, did you resign because you didn't have the people you needed?
Gee Dave, did you lack the people because it wasn't a priority?
Gee Dave, let me hand you another easy question since my fellow Democrats have been kicking your ass all over the place.
No wonder the Republicans love her.

11. I think Hillary was trying to
get Kay to state publicly why he resigned. He did tell us. They took half of his people off of him, after they told him they wouldn't. Now Rummy is going around saying that Kay is saying these things about WMD not being found is because he is disgruntled.

12. Also Carl Levin demaded
that the Chairman (John Warner) get an answer from Cheney in writing as to why, even after Kay's report, last week Cheney was making public statements about Iraq still having WMD. After being ignored twice by Warner, Warner finally said something like he'll think about asking Cheney. I hope Levin won't let this ride.

And you should have seen the mean look on Sen. Warner's face when Kay said there should be an independent investigation. That was priceless.

15. Didn't Levin ask K. if there should be an investigation of
Tricky Dick Cheney and his fear mongering lies about WMD? I got a phone call and never heard the answer.

16. I don't think Levin asked
for an investigation of Cheney. He asked for Chairman Warner to get from Cheney, in writing, his reasons for saying the Iraq had WMD, even AFTER the Kay report said there weren't any. After watching Warner ignore Levin, I don't think any statement from Cheney will be forthcoming.

After watching Senator Warner for a couple of years, I've concluded that he's one of the neo-cons fer sure.

Also, in regard to Liz Taylor knowing that Warner has no balls, after a couple of months of marriage she started calling him Senator Asshole. I'll never forget that. I love it.

14. The beauty of Levin's performance.
The beauty of Levin's performance at the Kay hearing is that Levin used Bushco's own words against it. That always works.
