History Repeats itself....Why there's hope for Bush's loss
A respected (by most of the country) statesman is elected to the presidency following, a popular two term president. He fails however, in his presidency and serves only one term.

Years later his son is "elected" president without winning the popular vote nor the electoral college. The presidency is ill gotten through a "corrupt bargain" and a divided country watches as this son too becomes a one term president.

So who's our Andrew Jackson to defeat the new Adam's family and restore the Democratic party to its former greatness? Anyone But Bush would be fine by me.

8. Oh yeah - FEEL the Joementum !
Putting youngred down as a "potential" vote for the Nutmeg State Senator.

That makes one. One more and Joementum will really take off...

3. Wow! That is amazing! I have been wondering where Poppy was in the
polls this time in 1992. Was he lower that then chimp? I did a google search and couldn't find anything substantial. It would be interesting to see a second one term bu$h presidency.

6. Thanks! I thought the war was over in the summer of 1991 so
by January of 1992 did he still have the bump from the Gulf War and people were just starting to pay attention to the economy? I guess 6 months isn't that long.

7. Nah the war was earlier than that
I remember the big patriotic hoopla of the all RED WHITE AND BLUE Super Bowl with the Giants and Bills (WIDE RIGHT).

The economy went into the tank shortly thereafter and Bush had to renig on his 'read mah lipshs' pledge. Throw in a little Ross Perot, a little Pat Buchanan and bye bye bushie

9. Jackson's not a good role model
he was a personifcation of the worst of this country, and revelled in murdering native peoples...

But I get your overall point, YR, and I do think you are correct.
The problem: The media, in particular television, and its power to create out of false images perceptions of reality; computerized voting, which can falsify elections invisibly; and I'm not sure if the Adams people were totally without scruple or principle, if they were as debased as the thugs and liars who are controlling the Republica right now and who, I believe, will resort to ANYTHING if they believe they are going to lose...

quantities of yellow cake from Africa. Get over it.

12. You're right
besides the indian killer and slave promoter, and starter of the spoils system and killer of the BUS and jeez...why is this guy on the $20 again?

And you're right in your summation. By all accounts John Q Adams was a brilliant orator, genius, respected diplomat and overall good guy, just wrong for the presidency....none of those praises could be used to describe Bush II.
