It is a long report to wade through, but I did. I was very disappointed to see that the report never talks about the first President Bush' involvement in BCCI and Iran/Contra (which it does discuss). I thought I must have missed something. Like I said, it is a long, sometimes boring, report. So I went back and did a search on each chapter for the name "Bush".

These are the only mentions of any Bush:

Chapter 7 says Jeb Bush, along with a lot of other people in Miami, met with BCCI officials and went to the opening of the BCCI Miami branch.

In Chapter 11 Bush's name comes up twice. Once saying that Douglas Mulholland (CIA) was a researcher in the Bush campaign and that Richard Helms (former CIA director) forwarded correspondence from BCCI Front Man Mohammed Irvani congratulating Bush and offering advice on his presidential campaign (the letters could not be located).

Chapter 19 talks about Ed Rogers (former White House Political Director) and Kamal Adham (former head of Saudi Intelligence and BCCI representative in the US). Bush is quoted saying "he didn't know anything about the man" and that it isn't clear which man he was refering to, and that he knew both. (Rogers left the Bush White House to start a law firm and was immediately hired by Adham to defend him in the BCCI investigation, even though he had little law experience. Rogers dropped Adham when the media started asking questions.)

Chapter 19's footnotes (#16) is about a NYT article about unauthorized transfers of American made military equipment to Iraq, Syria and Bangladesh that the Bush administration says was a small number and not considered significant.

Finally, in Chapter 20 correspondence from a BCCI official mentions that Scowcroft National Security Advisor Designate to Bush.

That's it. Papa Bush gets a complete free ride in the Kerry report.

People point to Kerry's role in the BCCI investigation as evidence that he knows how to be tough with illegal activities. When you read the report you see he knows how to look like he is being tough while being careful not to step on Bush toes.
