Camejo to debate Solomon Sacramento today on KPFA democrats should listen
Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 04:03 PM by messiah
Camejo to dbate Solomon Sacramento 1/29, KPFA to broadcast 7-9pm

** Green Party of California Update **

We have received word that Pacifica Radio (KPFA /B /C
/D etc) will broadcast the
debate live from 7 - 9 pm.

SACRAMENTO - THURSDAY, JANUARY 29: Norman Solomon and
and Peter Camejo will
debate what direction the Green Party and progressives
should take in the 2004
election season. Camejo supports Nader, even as an
independent, and hopes
Ralph Nader can be persuaded to run with the Greens.
Were Nader not to run,
Camejo would like the Greens to run a candidate.
Solomon says Nader should not
run, and that the Greens should work to defeat Bush.

3. I love Camejo
If I go to the Green Caucus in my town next week, I'll speak up for him.

BUT, and I will get my arse kicked for it, I'm going there unabashedly touting "play it safe and vote dem just this one time". Yes, we need to keep our ballot status, but we also need to get rid of Bush. (How I HATE having to choose like this, but I fell it's the difference between my party's survival and my planet's now.) I've already gotten a lot of flak over that from other Greens. But I've encountered just as many who feel the same way I do. We aren't going to get a Green in the WH under the rules of election that we have in place now.

So I say we Greens vote for a dem, work HARD for election reform, and hope to get more Greens (and Socialists and Labor etc) elected on the federal level once those reforms are in place.

At the debate, Camejo and Solomon will also field recorded questions from scholars and journalists familiar with the issue. Listeners can expect questions from Howard Zinn, Amy Goodman, Kevin Danaher and others. Audience members will also have an opportunity to ask questions of Camejo and Solomon as well. The debate is being produced by KVMR-FM.

18. This has been interesting...
I tend to go with the defeat Bush first idea of Solomon.

I like Camejo and hope that electoral reform can take place.

I guess I'm ABB so will pull the lever for whoever is against
Bush no matter how lame.

Sad but Bush is harming the world everyday he remains.

19. I don't think Solomon has made much of a case
Whether it's good or bad, Democrats have a serious inability to effectively challenge morons like Reagan and Shrub. If we all unify behind the Democrats and the Republicans win anyway, the party will be nearly annihilated. Joe Lieberman will look GREAT at that point.

Camejo is persuading people that the system makes it so that fewer and fewer ideas are even introduced in politics.

Camejo's idea of party building pay off.

I don't think the D or R party will let that happen.

I think Solomon makes a good point that Bush is outside
the main stream of the ruling elites and is dangerous
to the very system the Greens want to gain access to.

If Bush runs wild for four years who knows what will be left.

21. ok, but I'll ask again
what will be the new spin if, even after full-bore unification, somehow Bush wins

...

...

...

will people leave the country en masse? start a civil war? end up like the Borg?

What will the Democratic party strategy be if they lose again?

"Let's try again!"

I hope it doesn't happen.

But if the corporatist march off the cliff again
I might be thinking about a new approach.

I am glad to be in the bay area where we have the
possibility of a third party.
