W's Facial Abrasions
Something Occurred to me recently about W's seemingly frequent facial abrasions. There was the big one that was blamed on a pretzel and there was one recently blamed on some brush. Have there been others?

When was the pretzel incident? I'm just wondering if it might have coincided for instance w/ the Chimp questioning the necessity for more tax cuts for the wealthy that appeared in O'Neil's book. When was this meeting? Was it around the same time as the pretzel incidient? Is it possible that these abrasions are actually the result of Cheney bitchslapping the Chimp when he says something stupid? I could see it happening after that meeting where the Chimp questioned the tax cuts. He meets privately w/ Cheney and begins mouthing off a bit, he's feeling a bit cocky and begins to act like a wise ass to Cheney and WHAMMO! Cheney cracks him good to shut him up, and then makes him blame it on pretzel. I could totally see this happening.

5. Naaah... Alcohol induced clumsiness, I can buy...
While I think Bush is a stupid pawn, I also think his handlers do so by building him up as the little omnipotent dictator, calling all the shots. He's stupid enough to manipulate, by folks like Cheney.

11. Typical Co-Dependent behavior...
Typical co-dependent behavior. He's a follower, not a leader. Knew that before he went into the White House. I'm not sure how many other people picked it up. Cheney and the Rummy influence, typical.

8. from shaving?
I think that Bush is on heavy prescription pills to keep him "mellow" and hopefully keep his mouth shut so he doesn't embarrass the admin. Some of these pills make you less sensitive to pain (as does alcohol, which I won't rule out) and he could be digging into his face when he shaves without realizing it.

Seriously. I think that--or Cheney bitchslapping him--are more believable than the pretzel. Funny, I seem to remember a lot of speculation about Clinton's rosacea (?) being alcoholism...odd that no one ever talks about this.. Oh year, that's because Clinton had a cock.

27. apparently he shaves with warm water, no soap ...
Some kind of macho thing -- his skin is already inflamed from too much sun exposure, so it's not surprising it looks like he took a power sander to his face!

If you look at some photos -- I have no choice, the Globe and Mail frequently prints extreme close-ups of the Shrub for no apparent reason -- there are lots of places where he misses shaving, so stray whiskers etc. are not uncommon.

The pretzel incident happened in January 2002. I don't know when the cabinet meetings took place -- anyone?

28. thank you for that mental image, CatWoman ...
I'm going to have to subject myself to a night of heavy drinking to erase it, so I don't keep screaming.

It was bad enough reading his coy little hints that he strips down to his undies on the porch, purportedly so he won't track dirt into the Crawford house. I wonder if he insists the guards watch that, as well.

30. Nah, don't you remember, there WAS somebody else in the room...
...during the famous pretzel incident: one or both of those poor, abused dogs -- who, according to the Pres-i-dunce, were standing over him when he came to.

I say he's dropped poor Barney a whole lot more times than we've ever seen captured on film. The doggies were just trying to get a little revenge.

Think Ray Milland in Frogs. Or Ernest Borgnine in Willard. Or...

20. The man is a drunkard...........
I read (in an article on Smirking Chimp recently by a substance-abuse expert) that W.'s behavior exhibits symptoms or signs of a recovering alcoholic that keeps falling off the wagon. He goes for so long without a drink, then goes on a drunken bender and passes out. He probably bruises his face up when he falls face first onto the floor.

Allegedly, the pretzel-choking incident was precipitated by one of W.'s drunken binges.

Welcome to DU. Yes, I had an employer who fit your description, being on the wagon most of the time and going to AA, but bing drinking to oblivion several times a year and yes, emerging when sober, with some marks on her face.

22. He could be poster child for Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome
Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 03:49 PM by Monica_L
Korsakoff syndrome, or Korsakoff psychosis, involves impairment of memory and intellect/cognitive skills such as problem solving or learning, along with multiple symptoms of nerve damage. The most distinguishing symptom is confabulation (fabrication) where the person makes up detailed, believable stories about experiences or situations to cover the gaps in the memory. Korsakoff psychosis involves damage to areas of the brain.

Signs and tests:

History is significant for chronic alcohol use. Examination of the nervous/muscular system may show polyneuropathy (damage to multiple nerve systems). Reflexes may be decreased or of abnormal intensity, or abnormal reflexes may be present. Testing of gait and coordination indicate damage to portions of the brain that control muscle coordination. Muscles may be weak and may show atrophy (loss of tissue mass).
