I haven't seen a lot of analysis of the senate races, but I believe it looked very likely that we would lose a few seats this time around. Which would give us a president and an opposition congress and senate.

Conservatives would probably be happy - they liked the stalemates of the Clinton years.

7. Wrong, we will probably pick up a few seats

Republicans really do not have their act together any more. They were bragging about 60 seats, but that bragging has stopped because they could not entice the candidates they wanted.

I can think of six seats right off that could fall blue, AK, OK, NC, SC, PA, and MO.

5. Stop RW judges.....that's a start.

If the Democrats wins in an overwhelming basis, I think the Republican cowards will be falling in line. Both Kerry and Dean do have some relationships they've built over their years in the Senate (Kerry more so). That could help. If Republicans are viewed as obstructing reform and change, that will just make their re-election chances in 2006 more unlikely.

O'Connor will probably retire. She wanted to after 2000 but tripped it up with her statement.

I expect at least 3 to retire next term.

Dean encouraged his supporters to help fund at least one congressional candidate, and there had been (emphasis in the past, when he was front-runner) talk of wanting to do more of it.

it was suggested that he should be Secretary of Labor. I concur.

The only other candidates that could be considered for Cabinet positions would be Clark and Dean. The rest still have their current elected positions. Clark is retired from the military and Dean is an ex-Gov.

Which positions should Clark and Dean be considered for in the Cabinet?

I would think HHS for Dean.

10. I was going to post that question today, myself.

So.. If we don't get some momentum going in taking back MORE than just the White House, we'll have another ugly scene, as we did with Clinton fighting those idiots while terrorism took a back seat.

I have to applaud Howard Dean. He is the first (and maybe only?) candidate to talk openly, and decisively about winning seats in the House and Senate. Part of his campaign agenda was to help candidates in key districts.

I think, if Democratic turnout is at the level we hope for, we should see some movement in the districts. I hope there is a major incumbent bias this year. Toss 'em out!!
