PLEASE - REC this Yahoo story RE WMD Intel Lies Big Time!
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20040204/ts_nm/iraq_usa_weapons_dc_5

About Ted Kennedy grilling Scumsfeld of his and the DIA's spinning of CIA intel to boost the case for war. Just heard the testimony on Randi. Incredible!

1. "competing theories" - Rummy lists all but the obvious one - BUSH LIED
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 06:23 PM by Stephanie
<snip>

He mentioned several competing theories to explain why such arms had not yet been found in Iraq:

-- They may not have existed at the start of the war;

-- Iraq had such weapons but they were "transferred in whole or in part to one or more other countries";

-- Such weapons existed but were "dispersed and hidden throughout Iraq";

-- The weapons were "destroyed at some moment prior" to the war;

-- Iraq possessed small quantities of biological or chemical agents, and had "a surge capability for a rapid build-up -- and that we may eventually find it in the months ahead";

-- Possession of these weapons was "a charade by the Iraqis," either with Saddam fooling everyone into thinking he had them, or "his own people" tricking him into believing he had capabilities that did not exist.

Rumsfeld indicated he thought weapons still may be hidden, but did not state which, if any, of the other theories he believed.

5. This just floors me...
"Sen. Edward Kennedy (news, bio, voting record) of Massachusetts confronted Rumsfeld with his own statement before the war that "we know where they are," referring to Iraqi weapons of mass destruction. Rumsfeld said he meant to say suspected weapons sites.

"I'm sure from time to time I say something that, in retrospect, I wish I hadn't," Rumsfeld said."

So why did you say it at the time if you now wish you hadn't. What purpose did your statement then serve? To lie about the reasons for going to war? Does that mean you regret lying about the reasons for going to war? Or does that mean you regret that you're having to answer for that statement now even though you intentionally lied and now you're caught red-handed?

6. thanks ,Rummy
Gee, too bad that your little mis-statement has only cost 500 (and counting) American families to lose a loved one. I'm sure that, in retrospect, history will declare you a reprehensible scumbag.

7. These Questions Should Have Been Asked
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 06:54 PM by k_blagburn
Sen Kennedy: Mr Sec did you enjoy it when you shook the hand of saddam hussien? In retrospect, do you regret giving him all those weapons you are now looking for? How did you advice Pres Reagan when saddam used these WMD's against the kurds? Did you advice Pres Reagan to invade Iraq?

8. "From time to time" = for ever and ever amen, you fucking ratfuck
Sorry. But jeebus h criminy.

"I'm sure from time to time I say something that, in retrospect, I wish I hadn't," Rumsfeld said.

I'm sure you're going to wish you hadn't. I'm fucking sure. I hope Bush and his fundy buddies are right that there's a vengeful God who punishes unrepentent sinners forever. Cuz if there is, you'll "wish you hadn't" for a goddamned eternity. I only wish you knew why.
