Dole said something like people are slamming bush for serving in the National Gurad ~ "a lot of fine people have served in the Guard...."

JS jumped in and said "I think people are saying he DIDN"T serve in the Guard"

Dole - after a pause, "well, he made it up."

Nice try Dole.

Dole did not come across as very enthousiastic about supporting Bush.
At times he seemed almost embarassed by Stewart's usual softball pitches and certainly didn't go through great lengths to defend his President.

I got the same impression from McCain while he was joking around on the show.
