...I've had to deal with the EEOC before. They are the most absolutely useless, ineffectual gov't entity in existence (besides that cabal squatting in the WH).

They firstly, are grossly underfunded. Then, the 'anti-discrimination' laws they are to enforce are ineffectual. They do not work. They are unenforceable and it's too easy for mysogenist, racist, or other 'ist' corprats and employers and others who discriminate to sneak around. It's entirely too easy for them to discriminate - always has been, no matter who or what was in the WH. What does happen, though, when a Repug is in, the discriminators get more blatant about it because they know their gov't supports it...

If you are truly interested in strengthening the enforcement of anti-discrimination laws, it would behoove you to find out the facts before implying that the Democrats haven't been fighting to make the EEOC more effective.

Here's a fact for you! Every budget Clinton submitted contained increases in funding for the EEOC.

You do have a point, though. I did jump to a conclusion. I'll edit my last post. Do Republicans cut funding for the EEOC or do they just make token 0.1% increases? I heard that Reagan gutted the EEOC. Is this true?

...gut it. Even when funded, though, that does not change discrimination laws - that needs to be done first, then the EEOC needs to be funded and given the teeth and resources to enforce those laws. Dollar amounts? Well. That 87 Billion we wasted paying Halliburton for cleaning up Duhbya's Iraq mess would have been better spent that way, I can say that much....

Funding the EEOC should be a bigger issue than affirmative action IMO.
