how i nailed a wannabe RW'er this morning...

Several of us were standing around talking "politics lite" this morning, nothing to heavy, just chatting.

One guy, very heavy (i mention this because it is relevant), says "Well, I think they oughta pass a law that everyone that can't speak english has to leave the country in 30 days."

Another guy says "Well, get ready to pay $10 for a tomato and $30 for a salad."

The first guy says "Well, at least they could understand you at the donut shop"

I stare at his large protruding gut and say "Man, I don't think you've had any trouble getting your orders filled at the donut shop."

Everyone busts out laughing and walks away.

3. I "nailed" my cousin last night and I feel like shit now.

Bush truly is dividing this country- my cousin and I have been scrapping like crazy- if it's any indication of how people will act during the election, then I'm afraid this country will be divided beyond repair...

Not a comforting thought, and I'm a little down about it...

15. I hear you. I've had several discussions with family

and one brother in particular. He's not very political but leans conservative because of my father's influence even when I point out that Democrats have his interests closer to heart. He usually winds up agreeing with me when I point out all the facts but ends it with "Well as long as it doesn't effect me I really don't care."
This infuriates me no end and has lead me to telling him every time we talk that more effects him than he realizes and that when if finally hits close enough to home for him to really realize it'll be too late to change anything easily.

P.S. Funny thing is, even my conservative father can't stand this administration.

Your father, your brother and yourself all hanging out in the same room? If so - and if aspects of this admin irk your father... then be strategic and sorta get your father on the topic and let him do the bushadmin bashing in earshot of your brother. Then just make some comment highlighting that you know its bad when our conservative father even finds this administration to be troubling... It might help make your case that your brother should care...

16. To not confront these folks is to surrender

A hard-core Repub would gloat if he/she "nailed" you. We cannot allow ourselves to let them win just to be nice. I'm sure your cousin is working his butt off right now on a scheme to zap you back. And I can virtually guarantee that there will be no introspection or regret if and when the shoe is on the other foot.

that all my family members who still on insisting they will vote for *bUsh , are now completely out of my life. Hey, you cant pick your relatives.
I wont speak to them tho. I wont allow them in my life, as long as they continue to support this bloodbath and even say to me "Oh we are so glad your stepson is going to Iraq, we will pray for him"
Pray for him????? bullshit. How about opening your minds to the truth.
sad isnt it. People I will NEVER speak with again because of *bUsh and the lies.
But I have to protect myself from these people, and wont allow them in my life. They might not admit it, but the blood is on their hands too of every soldier that dies or is wounded.

21. I've Had it w/ RW Family Members

On Christmas day, our right-wing brother-in-law persisted in making tasteless remarks about Dems. My hubby told him "Hey, no discussions about politics on Christmas," but the b-i-l made several more remarks that sounded like they came straight out of Rush's mouth. My husband walked out of the room, and avoided him for the rest of the night.

The next day b-i-l made more crude remarks, and my husband laid out the facts of Bush's deplorable record and that seemed to silence him for the remainder of the visit.

Well, this week was our dear b-i-l's birthday, and we decided to mark his birthday by sending a birthday card that insults Bush. The gloves are officially off.

some folks insist, even when asked to avoid it, on pushing it and pushing it and pushing it. Seems that this is the point where it is more than fair to push back.
