Against Gay Marriage (Sen. John Cornyn, R. Texas)-C-Span2 10:57 a.m.ET
My questions: Gay marriage provides equal treatment under the law, provides stability to relationships, provides the ability of couples to ADOPT children and reduce number of orphans.
The fundamental building blocks that he mentions (stability, respect, children, constitution) will all be helped by gay marriage.
What are these white males all about???

1. Because "all or nothing" behavior is what they are about
It's black or white, all or nothing, right or wrong, etc. There must be not gray areas for people like this....no compromise or the possiblilty of "other" ways of thinking. Pretty scary when you think about the people in power right now who are pushing such dogma.

2. Yeah, I watched it.
What kills me is that he goes on and on with this gay-bashing rant and then there is a Quorum Call because no one is there. No one to refute all of that garbage. Everytime I hear these idiots talking about "activist judges telling the states what to do" it sounds like we are in the 1960's and they are talking about segregation. No one from the left has made that argument.

This truly hurts my feelings. My partner and I have been together for 8yrs. We are monogamous, law-abiding and tax paying citizens of this country, but it seems that we don't count. I am so hurt and angry by all of this I am shaking. It has become clear to me that we and gays and lesbians, have no voice it this country. I am just sick to my stomach!

3. I am really sorry. And I agree with you. Besides, if you want
to protect the "sanctity" of marriage, it sounds to me like a religious matter. The state should never vouch for sanctity in any issue. This is about equal rights and providing legal standing to people who wish to share their lives in a MODERN NON DENOMINATIONAL society where church and state are separate.

4. It is about "Special Rights"
They want there to be heterosexual marriages only so in effect are asking for "special rights". Rights only for them and not extended to others a bit different. They want Special Rights but notice how they turn that around and say it is Gays who, by asking to be treated the same as hetersexuals, are asking for "Special Rights" How convoluted can they get?

5. I bet Senator Cornyn uses the word "evil"
That has become the buzzword for right-wing extremists these days. It would be nice if these self-righteous people could recognize that the world is made up of many types of people.....it's just that simple!
