Tom DeLay a Hooters fan: family values in action!
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 12:31 PM by Sliverofhope
It's tough work transforming our government into a Southern Baptist church, so where does U.S. Representative Tom DeLay go when he wants to relax and refuel? Nowhere else but Hooters, the soft-porn restaurant chain where waitresses are judged by how tightly they squeeze into skimpy tops and shorts.

The December financial report of DeLay's political action committee, Americans for a Republican Majority, shows an outlay of $117.19 at a Washington, D.C., Hooters. (Pretty large bill; we can only hope the ARM PACers did not imbibe any ungodly alcohol while leering at the cleavage.)

Judging from the filing and DeLay's past statements, we know: a) Don't send your kids to liberal schools like Baylor or Texas A&M because they have "coed dorms"; and b) Fine family-values dinner conversation can include "Check out the tits on that waitress!"

1. this goes on par with Rush's drug problem
I have no problems with hooters,
or real strip clubs for that matter,
and a ton of empathy for someone with a drug problem,

but I will laugh my balls off when someone who is on the holier than thou pulpit, gets caught acting like a "heathen"

what's worse,
this is the behavior we expect "from liberals".....

3. Agreed
It's not so much an issue with what they do, it's just the holier-than-thou attitude. Well, the attitude and the militant agenda to turn America into a theocracy.

2. Personally I don't see the conflict between family values...
...and Hooters. That's just me though.

6. The presence of Hooters...
...to some on the right is a sign of "Liberal values" causing a decline in society. You just don't expect someone who relies heavily on the "family values" right to be going to a restaurant to gawk at young women in tight shorts and cleavage shirts. They would have no problem calling out a Dem who went to one of these establishments.

Your right in that this shouldn't disqualify them from office or anything, but it is humorous and does point out hypocrisy on their part.

11. Considering the popularity of Hooters here in the South...
...this palce is such a hot bed of liberal values we should have no trouble at all sweeping the South in the election.

9. I guess that depends...
on whether the women in your family run around all the time in Daisy Duke shorts and a skin-tight t-shirt.

Hooters doesn't upset me too much though. It's just silly and I can't believe men still fall for it.

15. Here's a reason why
This might clear it up for you, Velma:

HER SIDE OF THE STORY

My husband was in an odd mood Saturday night. We planned to meet at a cafe for a drink. I spent the afternoon shopping with the girls and I thought it might have been my fault because I was a bit later than I promised but he didn't say anything about it. I don't remember doing anything to make him upset, but I could tell there was something wrong.

The conversation was quite slow going so I thought we should go off to someplace intimate so we could talk more privately. We went to this restaurant and he was STILL acting a bit funny. I was getting really worried, what did I do? What was bothering him? Was he mad at me?

I tried to cheer him up, but started to wonder what was bothering him. Was it me or something else? I asked him if he was upset with me, he said no. But I wasn't really sure. In the car on the way back home, I said that I loved him deeply and he just put his arm around me. I didn't know what the heck that meant because, you know, he didn't say it back or anything. We finally got back home and I was wondering if he was going to leave me! So I tried to get him to talk but he just switched on the TV.

Reluctantly, I said I was going to go to bed. Then after about 10 minutes, he joined me and to my surprise, we made love. But, he still seemed really distracted, so afterwards I wanted to confront him but didn't, so I just cried myself to sleep. I just don't know what to do anymore. I mean, I really think he's seeing someone else.

HIS SIDE OF THE STORY

Played badly today --- shot 97 - - -can't putt for shit! Felt kind of tired. Got laid, though.

10. Thursday on Countdown
They ran a story about how a Georgia family was up in arms because their daughter's school refused to grant her work-study credit for hostessing (modestly clad) at Hooters. Her working there was OK with her folks. I don't know which side to take.

5. they recruit their legislative aids from Hooters in Tallahasssee
Representative Feeney hired a hooter's girl for $50,000 a year to be his "aid." That was without a degree; don't know how much they pay Hooter's girls with degrees

8. Well yeah, Delay went to Hooters, but he didn't look
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 12:37 PM by SpiralHawk
How you you even think that?

of course he averted his eyes so he would no be "corrupted" by ungodly women.

Later, to get his "jebus" jollies, Delay went to the Department of Justice to ogle the statues of Justice that Att. Gen. Ashcroft shrouded so there would be fewer boobs on stage when he spoke. Shrouds "do it" for Delay.

On the bright side, note that no underage Thai hookers showed up at Delay's room -- unlike the "unfortunate" incident that smeared the reputation of Neil Bush (or is it Marvin Bush?) when he was "seduced" by the underage hookers apparently provided by his Red Chinese "business" buddies.

13. don't be silly
Hooters is not attracting male customers with sex like MTV or something. Hooters girls are god-fearing Christian young women who are just flashing a little thigh to attract husbands. Once they are married, they will have sex only for procreation, and then never again.
