McCain and Intelligence Commission
John McCain's name has been thrown around alot as someone on the commission. Out of all the the Repubs he is the only one that I can like. What do you think is Bush's (or Rove's) strategy by naming him on the commission? If anyone has seen McCain talk about Bush, recently on the Daily Show, you can tell McCain still doesn't like Bush all that much. So what do you think is the strategy?

1. SInce McCain has been campaigning for Smirk
it's kinda hard to see how this could be construed as "independent". But with this WH, who knows?

2. I don't like it....
For 2 reasons:

1. He has been campaigning for Bush all over the country.

2. He has already stated on many TV shows that he does not believe that Bush and the WH lied about the Iraq threat to our country.

HOW OBJECTIVE CAN HE BE AT THIS POINT?

3. Are you kidding me?
This is such an obvious whitewash it's sickening. McCain was "turned" after he found out first hand, during his "straight talk" Presidential campaign, the power of the Bush Crime Family. Ever since then he's backed Bush at every turn - he's been a "good soldier", a "company man"...

For McCain, discretion is obviously the better part of valour.

Expect Bush to be exonerated and no one brought to account. Expect this "commission" to blame it all on "faulty intel" and an "honest mistake" by the White House.

How can you people stand it?

5. I agree, he was so sickening last week at the Kay hearing
spinning and covering for his master *. McCain is a repuke through and through. He sometimes says stuff that seems reasonable but then 24 hours later he is back to being a repuke first and an American second.

8. He was pretty hard on Rummy
In the Senate Armed Services committee hearing this week. McCain wouldn't stand for any of the Rumster's shucking & Jiving.

6. I hadn't thought of that!
That would explain a lot though.

But, not sure Dubya would go for that. I mean, McCain would be on him about the budget day and night, and $hrub doesn't strike me as the type to willing put himself into a place where people can argue with him.

7. McCain was gung-ho for the War In Iraq
So he has the same conflict of interest here as the Bushies. So Bush can be reasonably sure he won't go totally off the reservation.

And on the off chance he does, he's got Silberman to keep things under control.

What has become of this country?

:-(

9. What's more important?
What's more important, McCain being hand picked for the commission or the fact that the suspect is the one doing the picking and scheduling of the investigation?

I called Senator Mikulski's office to protest the house and senate allowing this obvious charade. Has anyone else been contacting their reps and senators about this?

If you were suspected of convincing some people to break into a neighbors house how likely do you think everyone would be to let you pick who does the investigating and when the results would be released?
