Even though ricin is less dangerous as a bioterrorism weapon than anthrax, smallpox and other infectious agents, such is US paranoia after September 11 that the shares of DOR BioPharma jumped 74 per cent or US61c to $US1.43 as 15.6 million shares sold – 80 times the 200,000 shares that exchange hands on the average day.

DOR BioPharma has eight employees. The chairman of the board is retired general and former secretary of state, Alexander Haig.
