Should Democrats talk to Mary Cheney about GOP gay bashing?

Mary Cheney, daughter of Dick and Lynne, is gay.

With all the talk about how gay marriage and even civil unions are going to be a wedge issues that the GOP will parade out, should the DLC get in touch with Mary and see if she would like to make a statement condemning the GOP or join in the campaign against Bush?

I think it would be great if she spoke out.

3. Doubt if she could be "recruited" but how about

Dick Gephardt as VP nominee? He would be a great standard bearer for this type of issue (also has a gay daughter). The contrast between Gephardt vs. the hatefilled and divisive repukes would be stark. Done properly would expose the faux (Fox?) "moral" high ground of the wingnuts.
