5 random musings from a_random_joel
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 04:01 PM by a_random_joel
1. What if Bill Clinton had been allowed to appoint his own "independent" counsel?

2. "Saddam gassed his own people." Do yourself a favor, make a list of all the people who keep repeating this line as a justification for the war. Then note that the latest date said activity occurred was in MARCH 1987 - Halabja. It is interesting to look back and see where the originators of said talking points were at this point in history. For example: In 1987 Bush was right in the middle of his Harken days, and was also working on Bush 41's election campaign. Which is kind of interesting, because apparently the massacre of Halabja wasn't a campaign issue back then, or a big enough deal to talk the to the reigning Vice President about taking action against it.

3. If the sanctity of marriage is so important to the Right Wing, then wouldn't it make more sense to pass a law against adultery, as this is clearly a much bigger threat to marriage than gay marriage could ever be?

4. "Clinton, the U.N., the French, and the Germans all agreed Saddam had WMDs." I'm sorry, but how am I supposed to trust the credibility and integrity of people who bashed all the above parties as irrelevant, liars, or worse, and now use them as a reference to support their talking point?

5. RNC chairman recently called the questions on Bush's military record despicable and without merit. With all due respect, there is a very easy way to close the issue once and for all. Show the records, or any other evidence that deals with the period in question. Until then, the questions are not only relevant... they are necessary.

1. Also
If marriage adds stability gay marriage, then, should be encouraged. Of course, Brittany Spear "marriage" was a joke, but this is still preferable - according to the RW.

I think that it was Jesse Helms who said that he could not guarantee the safety of "draft dodger" Bill Clinton to the Carolina. Bush, on the other hand, is treated like a hero.

4. there are laws against adultery in many states..it's a misdemeanor.
and I don't support those laws. Fucking around on your spouse isn't the state's business...nor is it the people's business.

Admittedly, the majority of adultery laws are forgotten and or never used...until they are handy to use.

6. A rhetorical question, indeed.
Which highlights the logical fallacy and hypocrisy behind the Right's opposition to gay marriage.

Practically I do not support such a law; I believe it is unenforceable. But, ideologically, I do support such a law. If one isn't ready to maintain a commitment, one should not make a commitment. One should at least grant one's significant other the respect and honesty of a divorce PRIOR to engaging in infidelity.
