Guess Russert's questions -- here!
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 04:30 PM by the_real_38
I got the idea from this article by David Korn :

http://www.commondreams.org/views04/0206-12.htm

<snip>

Tim Russert, the Grand Inquisitor of Sunday morning, is scheduled to have George W. Bush in the witness chair for a full hour on the next Meet the Press. He's a lucky man--Russert, that is. This will be high drama, as the nation's politerati--and millions of others--watch to see if Russert gives Bush the hot-seat treatment.

</snip>

I've been doing a little reading lately, and I happen to know that General Electric (GE), the company that owns NBC (home of Meet the Press and employer of Tim Russert), has given big ol' loads of Cash to the Republican Party and to one George W. Bush, in particular. I also know that under the current regime, military spending has spiked hard, and is set to go up even more in the future, which tends to benefit defense contractors, like, say, GE.

So, I've got the feeling that the seat is never going to get too hot for the 'President', and if it does, it's certainly not going to be the red-hot-poker type of heat that our misleader certainly warrants.

So, since the GE mother-ship is invested so heavily in Bush, I've got the feeling that they're over at NBC right now, working up some subtle strategies to appear tough on the outside, while still figuring out a way to let W walk away looking like the winner.

So I hope others will participate, and try to Guess Russert's actual questions. Here's a try:

Russert: "Mr. President, as you know, the country is facing a half-trillion dollar deficit this year. Some critics, and that includes conservatives, have said that spending in Washington is out of control. How do you plan to rein in Congress and, if not balance the budget, at least cut into the deficit?"

note : This would be perfectly slippery. Despite the fact that the Tax cuts, the Medicare (Scam of a ) Bill, and the upward trajectory of military spending (Iraq, e.g.) were all his idea, and he and his minions lied about the cost of each, it would allow him to transfer blame to Congress.

Anybody else?

8. What are you gonna get Laura for Valentine's Day ?
Why don't you just show the proof of your NG service and put this controversy behind you? Well, maybe not.

Is Mr Cheney gonna be your running mate in November? Hmmmm?

Are you making progress getting to the bottom of the leak on Joe Wilson's wife?

Do you still think we will find WMDs in Iraq? How much longer should we look?

If intelligence was bad that caused 9/11, should some heads roll some place? If not, why not?

And just to clear matters up, so that it does not become a campaign issue, is it true that you have not had a drink since 1988?

Tim Russert will ask * the following questions:

Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 10:08 AM by SoCalDem
I am sure that most of us will call or e-mail him with suggestions, but I am pretty sure that he has already received "the questions"..

We all know what questions he SHOULD ask.. but we also know that he won't....

I am bookmarking this so we can all see how close we came to predicting

1.. Mr President, there's a lot of loose talk about your military service. I know how hurtful this must be to you, since you are waging a war on terror, and have won two wars in two years.Even though this was covered in 2000, people just won't let it go. Could you put to rest, once and for all, the issue of your service?

add your own questions that you "think" he will ask..

18. Dear Mr. Russert,
Here's a list of questions I'd like to hear you ask Mr. Bush*:

1. What's your favorite color?
2. If you could be a tree, what kind of tree would you be?
3. Do you like puppies?
4. What's your favorite kind of ice cream?
5. What color is your favorite tie.
6. Does God speak directly to you, or do the messages come through Karl Rove?
7. Do you think God was speaking directly to Pat Robertson when He told him you would win a second term in a landslide, or did the message come through Karl Rove?

I guess that's enough for an hour.
I wouldn't want you to ask him any questions that might be embarrassing or that might get General Electric in trouble.
I look forward to seeing the show.

20. Mr. President,
your critics accuse you of misleading the nation concerning Iraq's Weapons of Mass Destruction. Given the tragedy of 9/11, could you really have waited a year or more for the UN Inspectors to slowly finish their work, or did you have to act immediately to protect our country from a very possible threat, even with incomplete data?

21. How do you sleep at night
knowing you are responsible for the death and maiming and destruction of thousands of lives?

Is it guilt that prevents you from going to military funerals.

Did the fact that Enron was in the news 24/7 have anything to do with your suddenly wanting to go to war? Did you try to change the subject?

Did we have to go to WAR NOW, have anything to do with trying to make Representatives take a position on the war BEFORE the election?

If they didn't give you permission...would you have called them soft on security in the election if they voted against the war?

In other words...Did we go to war for your own personal political
aspirations?

Did you realize how much money you, your family, colleges, friends et al were going to make war profiteering?

22. Ok, one more about the CIA...
...
Russert: Mr. President, as you know David Kay testified last week that no Weapons of Mass Destruction have been found in Iraq, and he's blaming the CIA. Are you disappointed in the CIA?

Bush: I sure am, Tim. They gotta get stuff like this right, if I'm going to protect the American people.

Russert: Ok, now, on a lighter note - the Christmas video. That Barney's a rascal, isn't he?

32. Here is the question I sent to Russert.
Please ask president Bush whether it is true that the Bush administration did not reveal the identity of a CIA operative but the White House is cooperating with the 9/11 commission since democrats are not good Americans just as the Jews were not good Germans and government spending went down if you do not count the increased government spending but the boxes were labeled "Made in USA" even though the $400 billion decorative medicare turkey was not labeled $525 billion and Bush's plane was spotted on the way to Baghdad because before Saddam bought the uranium and became an "urgent" but not "imminent" threat Bush had no plans on his desk to invade Iraq since the aircraft carrier was too far offshore for the Navy to make a large enough banner to describe the WMD we have found in Iraq some of which could hit the US and some of which Saddam was giving to Osama for following Saddam's plans and using Iraqi hijackers on 9/11 so that everyone got a tax cut which allowed Iraqi oil revenue to pay for the cost of the reconstruction of Iraq after the invasion by a small number of troops who would be greeted with flowers because Bush misunderstood the August 6, 2001 intelligence briefing warning of the upcoming 9/11 attacks and that is why Laura dropped the dog.

33. About the pretzel incident.

When you appeared with a big bruise on your cheek, the official explanation was that you choked on a pretzel and fell and hit your face on a table. Mr. President, is it true that your mother actually smacked the shit out of you when, after 2001 ended, you said "yeah, it was a pretty good year for me"?

And already to his credit, he has an airport and a ship named after him…in my most humble opinion and the fact that you’re on the threshold of rivaling president reagan’s popular vote to a second term….would you think it only appropriate that D.C. be renamed in your honor to bush D.C.???
