Has anyone heard the rumor about Bush pairing with Rudolph Guiliani (the NY mayor during 9/11) for the 2004 ticket? Someone is telling me on the phone now...this sounds too bizarre....

1. I heard that, seems like Scott McClelland denied it. |
|
Don't remember exactly where though, probably here at DU..,

2. I don't believe it will ever happen |

The Republicans put a pro-choice, pro-gay rights candidate on the ticket, and make him the front runner for 2008?
Not in this universe.

6. Guiliani is capable of changing his mind-- |
|
--if it gets him on the ticket.

I don't think Rudy will play to well with |
|
the Family Values/Fundamentalist crowd. Not to mention that he is "EYE-TALIAN" and Catholic to boot.
Any mob ties in the closet?? I think this would be way to much of a gamble.

7. Supposedly it's now Bush-McCain |
|
ALot of Rudy's law partners from his pre-mayor days are going to prison for various offenses, so that one may be on hold.
It will be pretty funny when * takes as his new running mate one of the people that's supposed to be investigating him...

I don't think McCain would lower his standards by being associated with *...
Edited, imagine, I misspelled *'s name!

10. I do not put it past the Republicans |
|
to pull that stunt, seeing as how the Bush administration's whole legitimacy is hinged on the events of 9/11, and their continuing pretence that only they know how to protect America!!!
I would not be surprised to see "Lord 9/11" on the ticket.

13. I'll bet they're courting |
|
guilliani and mccain just in case cheney goes further up in flames. They all seem to have been pretty chummy lately. I must say I've been disappointed with McCain lately - I thought he was better than that - but then again maybe he's just trying to salvage what he can for the little thats left of his party's image.
