All I am saying, is by the Democratic senators et al stirring the pot, those looking for any excuse to make the Democratic senator judiciary committee look biased and un-American (read: Repugs) may have found what they were looking for.

I think the guy (Miranda, how ironic) said there were hundreds more documents/memos.

Why wasn't the computer secured? Who was in charge of that? That's what needs to be checked out.

which suggests it was not necessarily about the computer not being secured - and that the damage may have been much more than "hundreds".

Unless technically - if a computer has been hacked - but it is undetected - is it those who don't detect the hack who are at the fault of the security breach? Seems that it will be very important for these details to be determined.

was suggesting that the initial "breach" - wasn't a mistake - but the result of hacking. Insecure from hacking, not a "glitch". And while the recently fired Frist aid claims to have told a dem. counterpart, I have only read reports suggesting that NO dem was aware of the problem or had been told. If true - the fault lies with the hacker who created the security breach, and those who exploited it (eg got records through an illegal hack.)

Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee said yesterday that they expect criminal charges to arise from the imbroglio over internal memos downloaded from their computers by Republican staffers.

Sen. Durbin, whose memos wound up in the pages of The Washington Times and Wall Street Journal, said he was startled by the briefing Mr. Pickle gave yesterday. "The extent and depth of the theft far exceeded anything I had imagined," he said.

Manuel Miranda told investigators that he had viewed the documents but was not responsible for distributing them. He also said no hacking had been involved in downloading the memos. Rather, they were easily accessed through a glictch in the "fire wall" that separated Democratic and Republican documents stored electronically on the Judiciary Committee's shared computer server.

statue, Congress changed the wording, and explicitly criminalized the act of exceeding the scope of authorized access to a system.
