American family Assoc calling for MTV boycott. My response letter
This AFA is one of those PAC's that is flipping out over gay marriage, pornography and who knows what.
They're sort of the nutty right version of Working For Change.
Here's their site:
http://www.afa.net/

I got an emailed petition from them , outraged at Naked Janet , calling for a boycott of MTV.

Here is the letter I sent back to their director, along with a link to the NY Times article I sent to him:

Dear Mr. Wildmon,
Though I certainly appreciate your strong feelings about Ms. Jackson's breast, may I please bring to your attention something that may even be a greater threat and abomination against God and his creations?
Thank you sir, keep up the good work.

9/11 Panel Threatens to Issue Subpoena for Bush's Briefings
By PHILIP SHENON

Published: February 10, 2004

WASHINGTON, Feb. 9 — Members of the independent commission investigating the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks warned the White House on Monday that it could face a politically damaging subpoena this week if it refused to turn over information from the highly classified Oval Office intelligence reports given to President Bush before 9/11.

1. Uh-oh.
You must be one of those nasty liberals who hates everybody and everything. How dare you point out facts and figures to these people. Do you want their agenda to be disrupted? In actuality, Wildmon and his organization may have done more to turn on people to the TV show,"NYPD Blue" than any other type of publicity may have ever done. They called for a boycott of the show without ever seeing a single episode. They heard that there was nudity in it, and since they are scared of the human body and, apparently, sex, they couldn't have that "filth" on the air. As you know, the show was a smash hit, mostly because of fine acting and writing, not because of nudity, although that almost certainly drew a few curiosity seekers who probably stayed with it because of the aforementioned reasons.

those wrong-wing fundie civil religion blind adherence to my country right or wrong (Constitution? OH that thing we want to amend to legalize our hatred of and bigotry toward gays) sites...
Those people really creep me out.

3. How are they going to boycott something
they never watched to begin with? That's like Moveon calling for a boycott of Fox News.

4. I support a boycott of MTV but not because of anybody's titties
just because they have a monopoly and they have the STUPIDEST programming EVER in the HISTORY of TV.

Bottom line: They suck and they deserve to go down.

Where's your "free markets" working here? There is no competition for MTV whatsoever.

Therefore they're like the corporate version of pravda.

7. Yeah, as Louis Black says
MTV is to music as KFC is to Chicken.

Haven't watched MTV since 1987, when I seen the light.

8. I'd say it's more like coconut oil is to transmission fluid
as in nothing to do with anything.

MTV quit being about music years ago. It's now about lowest common denominator shallow human catty urges.

The stupidest dreck ever to be on television is on MTV.

Remember that show "Singled Out?" Good god, how painful.

6. As a resident of wildmon's home state....
I say leave these nuts alone - they're right up there with Coresh (sp) in Waco - nothing you say to them will be listened to or understood.

All he wants is your attention & your money - if you give him either, you're just feeding the Beast.
