Admittedly, I was already sold on this man as my presidential candidate. Today, he was in Nashville and I spent a couple of hours watching and listening to him answer questions to see if he is what I thought him to be. This is my impression.
He seems to connect with people on a personal level. He's pretty soft spoken if today is anything to judge by. He handles the tough questions with grace and tact. He didn't fumble words. He was direct without being threatening and I like the way he handled some of those dismissive bozos who "interviewed" him.
One guy, a personality on local news whose name I won't mention, stood to the side with a 5 x 7 photograph of DK. I watched him stop a man (grandpa) walking by to ask him if he knew who it was. I didn't hear the answer, but I could tell he gave the response sought by the reporter by the smirk on his face.
I wondered if he were to show grandpa all of the candidates would he be able to identify them all? Second, it's grandpa. He probably can't remember where he parked his car five minutes ago although he can recall names of people he worked with in 1942 but hasn't seen since. What does this prove? We shouldn't vote for Dennis because grandpa can't remember if he's ever seen DK on t.v.?
Putting that aside and ending on a positive note. I was not disappointed. DK strikes me as genuine.
