Charles Osgood has become a Republican campaigner
Anyone listening to Charles Osgood these days, will see he has gone from a neutral observer of events to a blatant campaigner for the Republican party. He uses his air time to constantly defend bush and bash the Democrats. I have wrote a letter to CBS radio 880, the local radio station in NYC who carries him. Below is my letter and the address I sent it to.

editor88@cbs.com

Hello I am a long time listener of your station. However recently I have become
very disturbed by the blantant campaigning Charles Osgood has been doing on your
station. His program has gone from being an interesting commentary program to
a commercial for George Bush and the Republican party. Today Mr. Osgood used his
time to defend Mr. Bush's National Guard record and attacking the Democrats. Is
this your station's idea of fair and balanced reporting? If you do not correct
this blatant campaigning by Mr Osgood, I will be forced to switch to 1010 news and
report your station to the FCC for not allowing equal air time to other candidates.

Richard

Here are some of his older show's transcripts.

2. Is that Viacom?
That is who owns CBS 880 news radio. I can't believe they turned Osgood into a mouth piece for the repubs. I hope others here will right the local station that carries him as well. He spent his entire program this morning defending bush's guard record and demonizing the Dems for daring to question it.

His real name isn't even Osgood. I've had dinner at his house in the past. I've met the whole family :).

4. I have listened to him for years
However until the last few months, he was never this bad. He doesn't even make any effort to appear unbiased any more.

5. to the FCC for not allowing equal air time to other candidates.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could really do such a thing. Reagan did away with the "Fairness Doctrine" and since then the likes of Rush Limbaugh have taken over the airwaves and there is no way we can force a counter balance on them. Without the Fairness Doctrine any station can be as one-sided as they wish and they are and have been for over a decade.

6. Damn!
I thought it still existed. If I remember the Howard Stern show had to be classified as news so they could bring selected politicians on with out giving equal time to the other side.

8. Even that doesn't work
Just ask Move On about their attempts to buy a chance to speak during the Super Bowl.
