1. This is going to be fun!
I knew it was going to be a freak show. It only costs a few thousand to throw your hat in the ring, so there's going to be a very long ballot - this is going to be a circus. I predict most people will vote NO and then choose their favorite wacky candidate. Hey there's even a chance for a Green to get in, so that would really shake up the establishment :)

3. Heh. I just had a thought.
Everyone can vote NO, and then vote: but if we had to change governor, and if the currently properly elected governer gets kicked out, we'd prefer "THE WIZARD OF OZ" - that would be fucking funny :)

8. Who is Simon Leis?
I don't pay attention much to local news...I may of just tuned him out or not recall the name to a situation. I know Flynt is going back to court....Is that it?

10. He's the Hamilton County sheriff
and orchestrated the recent bust of the Cincy Hustler store. Has had a, um, hard-on to bust Flynt since the 70s, when he was a prosecuotr and tried to have Hustler deemed obscene.

He was also responsible for the museum bust over the Mapplethorpe photos.

19. I Respect Larry Flynt's Right To Publish
as I am a First Amendment absolutist.

But let's not deify the guy who showed a naked woman being put head first into a meat grinder.

His "cartoons" have at various times been anti-black, anti-semitic, and anti-gay.

The great thing about The First Amendment is you can publish what you want but good folks have the right to criticize it.

17. I think I heard Keith Olbermann report...
Edited on Fri Aug-01-03 04:37 AM by Buns_of_Fire
...that there were over a hundred people preparing to qualify for -- or already on -- the ballot. Should be interesting...

Among the other everyday people who say they might join the race by the Aug. 9 deadline:

- Jerry Morissette, longtime caretaker of a Bay Area freeway rest stop, hasn't announced any platform yet.

- Michael Wozniak, a retired Oakland police officer, says the centerpiece of his effort will (be) legalizing ownership of ferrets as pets.

- Roger Willoughby says he might run because he needs the work. "I'm unemployed, for one thing," said Willoughby, a Poway Republican who has waged a couple of unsuccessful City Council races.

Casa Grande Valley Newspaper

My money's on Georgy Russell, who is selling thong underwear with "Georgy for Governor" on it. (See the story.)
