Veterans, Military Families, Peacemakers Plan Huge Rally at Ft. Bragg
March 20 is the one year aniversary of the Invasion of Iraq.
----
**MARCH 20 AROUND THE UNITED STATES
Crawford, Texas; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Long Beach, California; Tallahassee, Florida: These are just a few of the dozens of communities large and small around the United States where March 20 events are already planned.
Now is the time to plan your community's involvement in this global day of action. We in the United States have a special responsibility to take to the streets on the one-year anniversary of the Iraq War to show the depth of U.S. opposition to the Bush Administration's policies of war and occupation.
Join the day of action! List your community's event on the United for Peace and Justice website at: http://www.unitedforpeace.org/calendar_gxinput.php

Visit our website for leaflets that can be adapted for use in any community planning a March 20 event: http://www.unitedforpeace.org/mar20

**MILITARY FAMILIES AND VETERANS TO RALLY AT FT. BRAGG On March 20th, as the world once again says NO! to war, military families and veterans of the military will take center stage in Fayetteville, North Carolina – the home of Fort Bragg -- as the North Carolina Coalition for Peace and Justice demands that the United States government provide REAL support for G.I.'s and other military personnel by bringing them home now.

This rally will draw attention to the stop-loss policy that keeps personnel in the service beyond the time that they originally committed to, inadequate psychological and emotional services for military personnel and their families, and other key issues of interest to military families and veterans. It will also demand that the government commit billions to education and the creation of jobs, not war and occupations.
Visit http://www.ncpeacehub.org / for more information, or contact Bryan Proffitt at bproffitt33@yahoo.com

**NEW YORK CITY: JOINT MARCH & RALLY PLANNED Plans are moving ahead for a major East Coast regional mobilization in New York City for March 20. An agreement has recently been reached between two coalitions for a joint march and rally in New York City. United for Peace and Justice makes this announcement on behalf of the March 20th Mobilizing Committee, the coalition of national anti-war coalitions we pulled together. Below you will find the joint statement issued by the two coalitions.

The New York City March 20 event will begin at noon in Midtown Manhattan; details about location are still being negotiated with the police and parks department. Check our website at

http://www.unitedforpeace.org/nyc for updates, and if you're not already receiving our separate New York City action alerts, sign up at http://www.unitedforpeace.org/email

Visit our website at http://www.unitedforpeace.org/nyc for downloadable NYC March 20 leaflets, plus a ride and housing board. You can also pick up leaflets and stickers at our New York City office during normal business hours: 351 W. 41st Street, 5th floor (between 8th & 9th Avenues); 212-868-5545.

2. Veterans and Military personnell HATE Bush

Wasn't this the big line they used against Clinton. They said that military people HATED Clinton and that was VERY important.

Now the show is on the other foot. Bush has abused both veterans AND enlisted personnell. They hate his fucking guts.

Even the cadets attending the Daily Show had a good laugh at Bush. Do you think it's ANY coincidence that military academy staff are sending their cadets to tapings of "The Daily Show"??????

What does this say about what training officers feel about their commander in chief????? That show absoluetly SAVAGES Bush and the cadets were yucking it up at his expense!!!! ;-)

What do you want to bet that the Floridian bureau of stealing elections tries to keep military ballots OUT of the count this year?????

6. Served in Clinton and bush Armies..
You cant even compare the two. I could write pages of stuff how bad bush is, but it still will not convey the dislike most "real" troops hate him, not the dog and pony bullshit you see on the news. Bottom line is this, retention is going to fall off a cliff. people are going to be heading for the hills to get the hell away from the debacle that is Iraq and the bush army. People can say otherwise, we will see when the #'s come out.

7. thanks for sharing that,
it's certainly the impression I've had from hearing folks talk. It's not like the media or anyone else has been rushing to find out how soldiers feel about this horrific mess, but most everything I've heard has been very negative.

8. I'm a former Navy serviceman from the 1976-1981 time-frame...
...which included Carter's term in office and the start of Reagan's two terms. I consider myself fortunate to have served aboard ship based on the East Coast, and to have served in a Naval gunfire liaison capacity with the Marines in California.

I've kept in touch with quite a few military personnel over the years and they loved Reagan for bring the military back to a level of respect by the American civilians. They also thought Poppy did a good job until they started closing down bases following Desert Storm. They respected Clinton for his restraint and his willingness to back away to allow the military to do their job if needed. Clinton was also present for the military funerals, something the current occupant of the White House lacks the courage to do. And no matter what they threw at Clinton, he showed up every day for work and continued to do his job.

I thought morale in the military was at rock bottom following the Vietnam War, but the last two years beat anything that I ever saw in my five years of service as both an enlisted man and an officer.

Junior is a definite danger to our very survival as a nation...he must be legally removed from office as quickly as possible.

He says most of the soldiers in his unit hate Bush* too. My husband was threatened with demotion for calling him a moron He's been in the army almost 9 years and says if Bush is re-elected, he's getting OUT.

3. Some knucklehead on C-SPAN the other morning
still thinks the military supports * 99%. If there had been another ten minutes left in the show, I would have called in citing the Army Times (Military Times) poll from several months ago. It stated clearly that military members' support of Bush's war is only slightly higher than the general public.

I wish we could get current numbers about the military's low support out there. I bet the Army espcially freaking hates him.

Thanks for the links. I wonder if I could plan a weekend to attend the rally in Crawford.

11. It's a 2 edged sword.
There are still plenty in the military/retirees/dependent families that love shrub, then there are those of us who don't....I will be real curious about the outcome of the Rally at Ft. Bragg. Lots of folks love him there, but the 82n and the 18th Airborne Corps have been deployed in two major operational areas for over 2 years and still going....along with elements from 3rd and 7th SF Group, including me....I'm really curious about what will happen when the Stop Loss policy is finely lifted for the Active, Guard and Reserve folks. I suspect lots will leave service very quickly....

12. there are a growing number of military families
that are realizing that you can't support Bush and the soldiers at the same time. That if you support Bush you are NOT supporting the soldiers. Hopefully the Fort Bragg rally will be an educational experience for some and give others support who question what is going on.
