Wednesday night, I posted a poll asking about DUers' tolerance for bushspeak. As you can see from the
results, nearly 3/4 of the respondees clustered at the "one minute or less" level. Bearing this in mind, I think a new poll is in order, that takes the sensitive nature of the DU population into account.
The question is essentially the same:
How long can you endure a televised bush speach, "press conference", or fundraiser before you have some kind of physical reaction? I want to clarify that by "physical reaction", I mean something that one wouldn't get from watching your average Friends episode, something exceptional. Changing the channel from disgust counts, although changing the channel from boredom does not. Laughing out loud would not necessarily qualify, although uncontrollable hysteria or peculiarly sarcastic laughter might. Throwing the remote at the TV definitely counts. Picking up the TV Guide to see if a Mr. Ed rerun is on does not. Use common sense, look for the point where a visceral reflex takes control of your actions, the fight-or-flight kind of things.
