Listening to Randi today, I noticed something sad...

I know that this fact is old news, but I heard it from a new perspective today. As you know, Randi can now be heard over the internet at www.wjno.com and www.whiterosesociety.org nationwide, but listening today, I heard good, hardworking, everyday folks like myself calling in from Pennsylvania, from Georgia, from Chicago, etc. etc. and the one thing I kept hearing OVER and OVER again was "Randi, I'm so thankful I faound you. There's NOTHING but far-right-wing radio where I live" some of the callers sounded overcome to the point of tears. None of them were calling from little hick towns, by the way.

It just struck me how the nightmarish last 3 years must have been for these people, many of them not knowing about websites like this or bartcop, and having NO access to progressive media. I've gotten through these times only because I knew folks like you, and Randi's, and Malloy's listeners, were going through it too, and feeling just the same. I'm so grateful for what I've got here.

Imagine what it must be like for the millions trying to stay liberal in a rising sea of right-wing hate out there, with no access to venues like this or Randi's show. If I were a religious man, I'd say a prayer for them.

about how many of her callers thank her for making them feel sane. Of course she also knows Clear Channel won't put her on nationally due to their corporate ass kissing of the White House.

3. I wonder if public access tv could be the answer for non-comp. folks.

Community access tv, local channels....there's got to be a way for us to get the message out there using these channels. Reserve a regular spot and just broadcast liberal radio? Something to mull over? :shrug:

If you get Bill Moyers' NOW on your local PBS station, please watch it this week. Randi is on, and they really show the consistency of right-wing talking points and their effect on one listener in Portland, OR.

7. I have to say I'm unimpressed by her

I listened for the first time last week (thanks to DU Link); also for first time listened to Malloy.

Randi was really not very nice to callers who called in and who were on our side. She was just bitchy to them! Maybe it was a bad day for her, but Malloy's a million times better.

As to her having a bad day, listen for a week or two, she as regular RW calls that have been calling for years, and yes she can get bitchy will them.

10. Yes, she certainly can get bitchy - I find she's

impatient with people who call and don't know what they're talking about and who can't make themselves clear. She could be a little nicer, I think. But then, again, that's just her. She has a sharp and biting manner, but she consistently is the #1 rated radio show in her listening area. She is informed and she speaks out. If you call her show, you'd better have done your homework, because she has no patience if you haven't.

Edit: I'd NEVER personally call her show, because I know I would get tongue-tied and everything I ever knew would leave my brain if I did.

the 2nd time I did, I was hungry as hell, so I'm trying to scarf down some crappy home cooked pizza, sure enough the 4th bite I take, SHE PICKS UP! Ever try to talk on the radio with a mouthfull of food? I don't recommend it!

She does talk over callers, that's one thing that kinda gets on my nerves...and hurries the callers along, but otherwise, she kicks! ...if she goes national. With an ISDN line, she could just as easily broadcast right into WPB from wherever, or broadcast out of WPB to wherever.

So if it happens, you won't be 'losing' her - more like 'sharing' her. ;)

True. When Howard Stern finally got on WBGG 105.9 down here, I was like "Ok! I can't wait to hear how raunchy this is oh baby baby!!!!!" I was rather disappointed actually! But having grown up with Uncle Neil, that kinda wrecks the curve! Neil is dangerous and HATED by the repukes because he's NOT JUST a political show. Under the billing of an Entertainment show, and talking about whatever is on his mind, Jorge's, the callers (mostly crackheads!) minds, gives the show a large audience, and THAT is the edge Neil has, say, compared to Randi, who's for the most part, all political talk. And Neil has a larger signal coverage area. Neil is NOT for everyone! I've had people tell me first time I tried to get 'em to listen that there's no way in hell I'm listening to burping and farting! Best way I'd call it is, it's an aquired taste. I can't help but wonder if someone visiting South FL lands on WQAM when he's on and is like "WHAT IN THE HELL IS THIS?!" And I still can't believe that those turds at Faux Nukes tried and tried to get Neil off the air. Scumbags. Having a liberal show on in the 6th biggest metro area in the country with a huge Net listenership, must DRIVE THEM NUTS! Too bad Faux Nukes Heather, you ditzy troll! That call was such a joke, I think it's still on the Neil Rogers yahoogroup for anyone who wants to hear how pathetic and desperate the right wing REALLY is!!!!!!!
