Sheehy Trifecta- 9-11 Articles in NY Observer
If you haven't yet read these articles, or even if you have, here they are together. Sheehy has done a devastatingly good job of cutting through the b.s. and asking real questions.

From the NY Observer in Aug.

"I don't understand, with all the warnings about the possibilities of Al Qaeda using planes as weapons, and the Phoenix Memo from one of your own agents warning that Osama bin Laden was sending operatives to this country for flight-school training, why didn't you check out flight schools before Sept. 11?"

"Do you know how many flight schools there are in the U.S.? Thousands," a senior agent protested. "We couldn't have investigated them all and found these few guys."

"Wait, you just told me there were too many flight schools and that prohibited you from investigating them before 9/11," Kristen persisted. "How is it that a few hours after the attacks, the nation is brought to its knees, and miraculously F.B.I. agents showed up at Embry-Riddle flight school in Florida where some of the terrorists trained?"

"We got lucky," was the reply.

Kristen then asked the agent how the F.B.I. had known exactly which A.T.M. in Portland, Me., would yield a videotape of Mohammed Atta, the leader of the attacks. The agent got some facts confused, then changed his story. When Kristen wouldn't be pacified by evasive answers, the senior agent parried, "What are you getting at?"

From the NY Observer in Jan.

"During her six months of work for the Bureau, Ms. Edmonds said she grew increasingly horrified by the lack of internal security she saw inside the very agency tasked with protecting our national security.

In papers filed with the F.B.I.'s internal investigative office, the Department of Justice, the Senate Judiciary Committee, and most recently with the 9/11 Commission, she has reported serious ongoing failures in the language division of the F.B.I. Washington Field Office. They include security lapses in hiring and monitoring of translators, investigations that have been compromised by incorrect or misleading translations sent to field agents; and thousands of pages of translations falsely labeled "not pertinent" by Middle Eastern linguists who were either not qualified in the target language or English, or, worse, protecting targets of investigation.

Nothing happened. Undaunted, Ms. Edmonds took her concerns to upper management. Soon afterward she was fired. The only cause given was "for the convenience of the government." The F.B.I. has not refuted any of Ms. Edmonds' allegations, yet they have accounted for none of them.

On the morning Ms. Edmonds was terminated, she said, she was escorted from the building by an agent she remembered saying: "We will be watching you and listening to you. If you dare to consult an attorney who is not approved by the F.B.I., or if you take this issue outside the F.B.I. to the Senate, the next time I see you, it will be in jail." Two other agents were present."

From the NY Observer this week-

"We know what she said from notes, and the government has them," said Mary Schiavo, the formidable former Inspector General of the Department of Transportation, whose nickname among aviation officials was "Scary Mary." Ms. Schiavo sat in on the commission’s hearing on aviation security on 9/11 and was disgusted by what it left out. "In any other situation, it would be unthinkable to withhold investigative material from an independent commission," she told this writer. "There are usually grave consequences. But the commission is clearly not talking to everybody or not telling us everything."

This is hardly the only evidence hiding in plain sight.

The captain of American’s Flight 11 stayed at the controls much of the diverted way from Boston to New York, sending surreptitious radio transmissions to authorities on the ground. Captain John Ogonowski was a strong and burly man with the instincts of a fighter pilot who had survived Vietnam. He gave extraordinary access to the drama inside his cockpit by triggering a "push-to-talk button" on the aircraft’s yoke (or wheel). "The button was being pushed intermittently most of the way to New York," an F.A.A. air-traffic controller told The Christian Science Monitor the day after the catastrophe. "He wanted us to know something was wrong. When he pushed the button and the terrorist spoke, we knew there was this voice that was threatening the pilot, and it was clearly threatening."

According to a timeline later adjusted by the F.A.A., Flight 11’s transponder was turned off at 8:20 a.m., only 21 minutes after takeoff. (Even before that, by probably a minute or so, Amy Sweeney began her report to American’s operations center at Logan.) The plane turned south toward New York, and more than one F.A.A. controller heard a transmission with an ominous statement by a terrorist in the background, saying, "We have more planes. We have other planes." During these transmissions, the pilot’s voice and the heavily accented voice of a hijacker were clearly audible, according to two controllers. All of it was recorded by a F.A.A. traffic-control center in Nashua, N.H. According to the reporter, Mark Clayton, the federal law-enforcement officers arrived at the F.A.A. facility shortly after the World Trade Center attack and took the tape."

1. I hope Gail Sheehy writes the definitive blockbuster on 9/11..
Edited on Sat Feb-14-04 11:15 AM by TruthIsAll
She has brought the story mainstream. Next step is to put all these articles in full context. She will sell a million copies.

She is telling the story from the perspective of women seeking the truth: Mary Schiavo, Ms. Edmonds, Kristen Breitweiser and other WTC victims.

This will have great impact on middle America's soccer moms and Nascar dads.

2. She has written a book
called something like "Middletown America" about the 9-11 widows in New Jersey.

Sheehy is a well-known, best-selling author. I don't know why these articles have not been published in Time or Newsweek.

3. Can someone get her to contact Atta's girlfriend?
Daniel Hopsicker had interviewed her with some good revelations.

4. whenever I see "drugs, covert ops, arms..."
and the implication of money-laundering...

why am I reminded of BCCI, Iran-Contra, Iraggate...

and the Bush connections to all of these?

No doubt just another one of those whacky Americans who will believe anything...

I don't know about this guy's work. The German who gives him an endorsement wrote a book, I know, which is highly controversial. I haven't read it, so all I know is what I've heard secondhand.

It's too bad that people like Barry Seal and Danny Casolaro cannot speak to us today about the people who are weaving their spider webs today.

...or would that be extending their octopus tentacles?

12. speaking of BCCI...
when I made that post above, I'd forgotten about Jackson Stephens' association with the Venice Flight School.

As is widely known, but deserves to be restated, Stephens is known as the man who brought BCCI to America and into the highest political offices of this land. Stephens was also Carter's roomie.

Stephens was a long-time Bush supporter before he ever got his tentacles into Clinton. I believe Barry Seal was quoted as being sent to "dirty the democrats" for the black ops wing of the Bush junta.

Issue Number 8
 by Daniel Hopsicker

Jackson Stephens, a name often linked with America’s super-secret National Security Agency,  has been an influential presence for several decades in the tiny town which served as port of entry into U.S. flight and even military training for the terrorist cadre implicated in the Sept 11 attack.  Why did Mohammed Atta and his terrorist cadre pick tiny Venice, Florida to be their terrorist beachhead?

Curiously, furious government intelligence officials yesterday accused the NSA of destroying data pertinent to the Sept 11 probe, reported the Boston Globe, stating possible leads stemming from the Sept. 11 attack weren't being followed because of the NSA.

Jackson Stephens name, so often linked to the NSA, has made a brief appearance in almost every whispered-about scandal or cover-up in America in the past two decades.

He was named in the BCCI criminal bank scandal, in the death of Vince Foster and the stolen Promis software scandal of the Justice Dept, and in the 1996 campaign finance scandal involving allegations of Red Chinese money.

Most notably, Jackson Stephens has already been named in one intelligence-related aviation scandal: the gun-running and cocaine smuggling at Mena, Arkansas during the 1980’s that was behind Iran Contra and Whitewater.

More about Stephens: he was the chief domestic campaign contributor to both George Bush Senior and Bill Clinton.

Interestingly enough, the Venice Airport also surfaced briefly in the questioning of Oliver North during the Iran Contra hearings, when a man with a local aviation business named Joe Duncan was alleged to have run guns to the Contras from the airport.

13. Jackson Stephens
scares me. Really.

He's one of the BFEE's senior not-so-missing links, and helps connect a lot of dots. Some of those dots look Democratic blue, too.

14. he's NSA
sort of like the NSA yin to Bush's CIA yang.

change and eng.

tweedledum and tweedledee

except that they seem to be connected to a whole lotta nasty stuff.

Did you ever read The Hunting of the President, by Joe Conason? He talks about some of Clinton's opposition in Ark. and it sounds like something out of a KKK meeting circa 1898, only it's 1998.

Thanks for your solid work on this, Ms. Sheehy.

7. Trifecta=Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft
and their "luck" to steal an election before the biggest attack on America since Pearl Harbor, which the neo-cons are on record as noting was something they would need to start their imperial wars without end.

They have Ashcroft, of course, to enact laws to make their crimes offlimits to real scrutiny.

Cheney, according to Daschle, directly asked Daschel not to investigate 9-11.

NOT INVESTIGATE?

when, in the history of this nation, would such a moment NOT be investigated ad nauseum?

Bush stonewalled the investigation for a year.

Congress appropriated four million for this unprecedented event, yet they gave away 70 MILLION taxpayer dollars to hunt Clinton regarding a blow job and a 100k real estate deal.

something is rotten in the state of denmark, and it ain't the fish, but something sure is fishy about a committee to investigate 9-11 when Bush wanted Kissinger (Mr. American Crimes against Humanity) to head the committee.

And now a former Bush administration official gets to determine WHAT information gets to the investigation committee, AND they are denied access to the Senate investigation??

What has happened to democracy in this country when this is how 9-11 is "investigated?"

These are the actions of people who do not want Americans to know what happened on that day, or why.

10. re: florida flight school
I still have an uneasy feeling that the mysterious death of Lori Klausutis, the staffer for Joe Scarborough, is related somehow to the Florida activities mentioned by Hopsicker. It was a Dutch or German couple who found the body -- a couple who had an early morning meeting at the office. The office was located in a strip that housed defense contractors related to flight. Lori's husband had top secret clearance. Scarborough was involved in God only knows what -- he tried to quash media interest in the death. He resigned from office soon after. I always thought that Lori stumbled on some information she shouldn't know. Maybe it had to do with the flight schools. Who will ever know?
