The Concord Coalition(and many others)has warned for months about how damaging the BUSH deficit will be for our country.

2. The chart is inaccurate.

The deficit or surplus for a government fiscal year is from the budget and appropriation bills from the prior calendar year. The first fiscal year under Bush Jr. was 2002 not 2001. On this chart the surplus for "2001" represents Clinton's final year. And so on.

But the decline shown in 1993 was under the budget and appropriations bills signed by Poppy Bush, not Clinton. Clinton submitted his first budget in February of 1993 for the government fiscal year of 1994. Bush Jr did not have a surplus in his first year in 2001. That was the last fiscal year under Clinton's budget. The chart is inaccurately color coded.
