Does Bush have God on his side? (Witch Hunts?)
This is why some religions bug the shit out of me!
<snip>
Feb. 14 - Growing up in Tupelo, Mississippi, home of the ultra conservative American Family Association, I learned early about how politics and religion can mix. In 1992, when George H.W. Bush ran for reelection against Bill Clinton, the Protestant grade school I attended held a mock election. The school bucked the national vote and overwhelmingly supported Bush. Afterwards there was a public witch hunt for the few students who had dared to cast a Democratic vote.

3. Servant of Satan

Bush is a Servant of Satan and all things unwholesome. The surest sign of someone working for the devil is their CONSTANT UNENDING claims of serving Christ.

Real Christians just go out and do it. They don't spend more time advertising than BEING Christian.

4. I know this much
I'm dead sure that my Gods are POed at him like you wouldn't believe!

I would NOT be all that surprised if DC was hit by a hurricane or something like that in the worst-case scenario that he is re-selected during his inauguration.

5. It's like the bumper sticker sez...
..."It's your Hell. You go there." Seeing as how some of us don't have a Hell in our cosmology. O8)

When I think of Christians I like to recall people like Bill Moyers and Jimmy Carter and Fred (Mr.) Rogers; Mother Teresa and the theologian Rosemary Radford Ruether. And my mother's cousin the radical nun with the FBI file. O8) These people do good work in the here and now, and I'm grateful for their presence on this planet.

But as for Bush's god, it's a real scary one. A year ago I did a little on-line research for Christian Reconstructionists and found all kinds of links with Bush and the Bushites in all three branches of the US govt. I think these are what Molly Ivins calls the Talibaptists, and to my way of thinking they are about the grimmest bunch since the Spanish Inquisition. :evilfrown:

You can see if these links still work (I'm sure they do); and be sure to hang on to your First Amendment 'cause we are in for a bumpy ride.

Hekate

Psst. Who's this God that talks to George W. Bush? Pass it on.

The takeover of the GOP by the Religious Right

Tons of excellent articles, facts, "in their own words" damning quotes, you name it.

7. Many thanks for the new link, Ithacan
I've added it to my little tag-line of links I use when this topic comes up. I do like, whenever possible, to let these >wordsfailme< condemn themselves in their very own words.

Here's one I got from an Ellen Goodman column over 10 years ago, that I've filed under the title "Know Thy Enemy":

"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women.
It is about a socialist, anti-family political movement
that encourages women to leave their husbands,
kill their children, practice witchcraft,
destroy capitalism and become lesbians."
Pat Robertson, The Christian Coalition,
August 1992 fund-raising letter

Goodman's dry comment was: "Presumably on the same day."

8. Hell no!
No more than Pat Robertson has a direct line to Jesus.

These guys are on the payroll for "a man of wealth and taste."

9. During one of the debates, prior to the election,
bush chuckled at the execution of a woman in TX. No Christian I know, would chuckle about anything remotely like that. No Christian I know, would produce a pre-emptive war either.

The shriveled cold thing that bush might call his soul, is in satan's pocket.

O8)
