George W. Bush Means Nothing (Read this, it will make August go better)
Edited on Fri Aug-01-03 09:47 AM by Walt Starr
You cannot reach me, Dubya.

Go ahead, ya smirkin' Texas lug, stumble around all scrunched and blank eyed and pseudo-manly, shove this country into a bloody unwinnable war and lie about all the reasons why, gouge the economy and ruin the schools and embarrass the nation every single day as you mangle grammar and meaning and truth. It doesn't really matter.

Go ahead, toss those useless $400 rebate checks to the depressed and jobless populace as some sort of bogus humanitarian gesture as you quietly force an increase in their property taxes to pay for your record-breaking deficit brought on by the tax cut no one wants. Ha. You are so cute.

http://www.sfgate.com/columnists/morford/

I haven't felt this good in more than two and a half years!

On Edit: Please keep this kicked up. Morford's rant is long, but it would do some DU GDers good to read it. We empower the bastard. This takes away that empowerment.

He has no power over me. He has no control over me. He is an impotent little shell of a man who cannot achieve an erection with even two pounds of viagra in his system. He is a worm who is nothing more than a pimple on the ass of history.

1. Excellent piece.
I love the imagery. It does, somehow, make you feel good inside. It also brings a smile. Thanks for the post.

6. Frankly, I don't get it.
I think the author's point is that no matter what horrible policies Chimp enacts, he can't really make a difference. I disagree. Unfortunately, I think he IS making a HUGE difference. Partly because of him, jobs are being lost, the skies are being more polluted, the deficit is exploding, etc. He IS killing us. He IS having a gigantic negative impact on us. Sorry, I wish the author was right, but I think s/he is wrong.

7. That's how you personally empower the bastard
Believing he has power gives him power.

Refusing to believe the man is anything other than a pimple on the anus of time takes away power.

It's an old paradigm that predates even history. Think of it this way. Bush is an abusive personality. The victims of abusers give the abuser even more power by holding onto the belief that the abuser does, in fact, have power over them. Those with abusive personalities are usually abusive because they have no power over their own lives, and in fact, Bush doesn't. Karl Rove and Dick Cheney hold all the power over Bush.

Yes, he can do nasty things to you, your body, etc. but the bastard can never touch the inner you. Don't give him that power and his grasp on all other power will begin to crumble.

Don't scream at Bush, laugh at him.

10. Yeah, he can't touch the "inner you."
But he can hurt can hurt the nation in terms of economy, education, environment, etc. I agree that we should "laugh at Bush, rather than scream at him," but let's not underestimate the damage he's doing either.

12. In the grand scheme of things, the damage he is causing is
but a pimple on the anus of time.

15. Hope you're right, but you could be wrong.
I guess if your talking really, really, "grand scheme", but that pimple has control of a boat-load of firepower and can turn the lights out around this part of the solar system pretty quick.

20. Court system
Edited on Fri Aug-01-03 11:26 AM by pduck
Where Bush can do lasting damage to this country is with his judicial appointments. Let's hope none of the liberal or moderate judges from the Supreme Court retire while Bush is in office.

17. I like that.
I truly feel that a lot of people feel that way. We need the candidates to echo some of it. Many people are becoming fed up with the way things are going and are looking at that piece of garbage Bush and his crowd. People are not happy now. Things are getting worse. That's what makes elections work, the feeling that we need to change. All we need is to stick together. We can beat the dirty bastards.
