Don't Count on Bush* Being VOTED Out of Office.

What's the plan if the Dems lose in 2004?

- I've been accused of being 'negative'...but this is a very serious question.

- Some of us have a gut feeling that the Bushies will find a way to stay in the WH...even if they actually LOSE the election (again). The same machinery that slanted the election towards Bush* in 2000 is STILL IN PLACE. The courts...GOP-controlled state legislatures...Supreme Court...rigged voting machines...talking head pundits and cable news networks...everything is ready to go for the next election.

- But still I see SO many Democrats depending on this (broken) system to save them from the Bush* administration's far right agenda. They still seem to believe it's possible to take back the WH using POLITICS AS USUAL and voting.

- The fanatical RWingers have a majority in both houses and a gaggle of right-leaning Democrats who vote with them like clockwork. A Democratic president and minority will not have a chance to govern if this combination of right wingers remain after 2004.

- If the status quo remains in place we can count on every Democratic or 'liberal' program being discredited, dismantled and destroyed. If things remain the same we can depend on zealots on the far right removing the 'wall of separation between church and state' (Jefferson) and the continuation of first strike perpetual war.

- But PLEASE understand that we can't depend on voting alone to remove them from power. This means we MUST confront them with investigations and hearings and possible impeachment. If you REALLY want to get rid of the Bushies...call your representatives and DEMAND that they make this administration accountable to the people.

- Anything short of this is appeasement and obstruction of justice.

1. Part of the process...

...includes electing senators and representatives who can help make things run more smoothly in Washington. Granted, 2004 isn't a big year for elections other than the race for the White House, but keep in mind that Republicans are holding onto the Senate by a thread, and they still need Cheney for tie-breakers.

Fortunately, the President is still only one-third of the government, so when it comes to Congressional races next year, get in where you can fit in.

2. One more thing

It also helps if you try not to perpetuate the myth that Bush is somehow invulnerable. Let the country-club Democrats plan their endgame strategies for sucking up to Bush in 2005 - we've got work to do.

4. If Bush wins in '04

any protesters will be sent to Gitmo as "enemy combatants". We are on the verge of a very terrible time. What follows after Nov. '04 will make everything up to now seem like "the good ole times".

5. I think that maybe we have to face it,

that America is becoming a facist state. What do we do when we no longer have recourse to democratic solutions? There is a civil war brewing in this country, that will make the last one look "civil", indeed. Look at what was happening in this country in the 1850's and you can see the corolaries taking place now: a complete breakdown of civility between the parties, violence in the nation between citizens of divering viewpoints, a polorized electorate with no chance of reconciliation. This is going to get bad and we need to be ready for it.

6. Some of you have actually made my point for me...

...that Bush* will 'lose in a landslide' or that I'm being 'negative'. Those who write such things are ignoring the real issue: coup 2000.

- How do you beat someone who refuses to play by the rules? How do you overcome unprecedented government secrecy used to hide the real state of the union?

- Bush* certainly isn't 'invincible'...but ignoring the reality of a coup and a rigged voting system is little more than hiding from reality.

8. Yes, that's a possibility

Some suggestions:

If there's a scheme to computerize voting in your state, fight it like hell. Don't let them eliminate the paper trail.

Right now Bush's support is as soft as it's been since September 10, 2001. This is the time to soften it up MORE. Write letters to newspapers, put anti-Bush bumper stickers on your car, whatever it takes. Remember, we don't want just to win, but to win by a big margin. Harder to steal if the election isn't close.
