Word to the wise, I'm tired of the negaitivity on * beatability

He is VERY beatable. If the election were held today and 75% of the registered Dems in this country actually showed up to vote we would win in a landslide. If we can register an additional 5% of the population, and turn them out, for the Novermber 2004 election we will win in an overwhelming landslide.

The problem isn't tactics, or the media, or the swing votes, etc. The problem is about voter turnout. Less than 50% of the American population voted in the 2000 elections.

Change that by even 5% and we win back the Senate, tack back the Presidency, and turn the House into a close call.

So get out there, volunteer for your local county party, carry around voter registration cards, make sure you participate in the GOTV efforts around election day.

And we will win. Period.

5. Get everybody into the act!

We have to register, encourage and energize union members, seniors, young people (ESPECIALLY young people), IT professionals, educators, women, men, African-Americans, Latinos, etc. We must never take our base for granted. The more we get on board, the better.

And don't rule out things like letters to the editor. Be visible!

6. I am sick and tired and plum tuckered out . . .

The prevailing opinion is that Bush has the '04 election in the bag. In their view the months of campaigning will be a mere formality. Horse hockey! Out here in the hinterlands there is a huge, seething mass of angry Democrats who have gone pretty much unnoticed by news media and the Republican party. These angry Democrats cannot wait to cast their votes against Bush and his fascist regime. Let's work our butts off to get out the vote!

8. Deliberate Misinformation

I personally believe the idea that 04 is already a route is just a deliberate misinformation campaign by Conservatives. They know President Bush is vulnerable, and so they try to demoralize us by telling us how imposssible electing a liberal will be.

And I think it is effective--some of our best candidates aren't in it.

sure there are true believers out there. But 99% people I talk to, at work, in the community, see him for who he is. We've just got to do the heavy lifting and get out the vote.
I had to laugh... we had a noon time call in on MPR yesterday following the Watergate special on PBS. The first two calls were regarding impeaching Bush. The expert they had said simply that congress was too partisan for that to happen at the moment. But strongly stated his feelings that Bush and Co are stomping all over the constitution and the media isn't sayin a word about it.

7. I'm with you. I have a more positive attitude toward the American public

We all remember the lies and smears that the media used to portray Al Gore in 2000. We also remember the free pass the media gave to the Bushes (and continues to do). With all of that against Gore, he still won the election with a majority of over 500,000 votes.

I am optimistic about 2004. The bad economy is coming to roost for these thugs in the White House. Add to that the tech jobs overseas, talk of privatizing the postal service...

Yes, we have a good chance of regaining the White House.

11. We need to fight!!

We need to get out and fight, everywhere, tell everyone
I am supporting John Kerry, but I like all of the candidates
except Lieberman, we need the moderates, liberals.
We need over 75% democratic turnout, we can get a landslide

Damn straight. The self-defeating, self-marginalizing of the left is ridiculous. If you look at it dispassionately, a progressive or even liberal platform appeals to and will garner more support than a wacky winger one. This guy's very weak. The media isn't friendly, but even they know when they're on the wrong side of history. There will be enough cowardly attention-junkies who will give some access out of confusion alone.
