I feel bad for Saddam's daughters
On CNN. They said he was a good father to them. Even though he and their brothers were cruel and mean, it must be very hard for them. You know I was watching on a bio the other night and it said Saddam did alot of good such as free education, free healthcare, and technology. But he was a very bad man. Hopefully if they catch him, he can turn his life around and become a man of god.

He has too much incriminating evedince on the right wingers in this country. I'm sure the U.S. solciers have orders to shoot to kill.

6. I'll have to disagree.....
....on the "shoot to kill" orders. The Shrubites might want it that way but they wouldn't want to be caught having said anything like that. If they do get caught having said something like that then another low level Demo in the CIA will have to be sacrificed. I'm sure what they expect is "implied" rather than "stated".

2. Saddam becoming a man of God? Let's see, how many men
do you have to feed through a paper shredder before you "see the light" and become a man of God? I hope he burns in hell, the psychotic, murdering bastard!

3. Yeah, I feel real bad for those daughters too
After having nice comfortable lives paid for by the dictatorial power of Saddam Hussein over the Iraqi people, it willl be a shock.

"Free education, free healthcare, and technology? What kind of technology? The Iron Madain? The Firing Squad? Car batteries attached to . . . well sensitive parts of the human body?

I'm not blind to the problems with our invasion of Iraq, but let's not kid ourselves into thinking that Saddam was a good man.

4. I do somewhat feel for the daughters
only in their early 30s and 9 children between them!? Sadaam also had their husbands assassinated after he coyly convinced them to return home from seeking asylum.

I hope they and the children are safe now.

5. As a father I had very mixed feelings.
OK, he's a monster.
But he's also their dad and it appears their feelings run very deep for him. It sure wasn't a Jerry Springer "My dad ruined my life and I hate him" show.
I guess just about everybody has someone who loves them.
so sad

8. Saddam's daughters are victims of Stockholm Syndrome
think about it..

They were "sold/bartered" into marriages to men they probably did not even know, at a young age.. They bore child after child with these men.. Who knows??Maybe they came to love them, maybe they never loved them.. Then their own father has their husbands KILLED.. So now they are totally dependent on HIM for their and their children's livlihood..

Does anyone think that they or their children could escape the grip of Saddam???

Were they ever even allowed out in public?? Probably not..

They are brainwashed pathetic victims..

Let's hope that they can somehow be de-programmed and eventually lead a somewhat normal life :(

9. A "Man of God"
Becoming a "man of God" does not necessarily make one a good person and many atrocities have been committed in the name of God. If Hussein found religion, he might become even more dangerous than ever before. I hope they do catch him and allow an international court to try him. He should pay for his crimes against the Iraqi people but only after receiving a fair trial.

10. It shows a different view of things
Probably a fairly high percentage of brutual dictators and other "cruel" people in positions of power are good fathers and may even be good people on some level. Being open minded and meeting a number of people, I have even meet such people (criminals who did some bad things) and am in the process of rethinking assumptions that I make about people. We are all a combination of good and evil. Some people with good intentions will do many bad things in the belief that it is right or necessary to accomplish a greater good. Some people with very evil desires will not accomplish them for no other reason than that they are afraid of being caught or that they are incapable of carrying their ideas. A person might be able to torture their enemies to death but will be very loving to family and friends. Is that person better or worse than the person who hates and is mean to everyone but neither kills nor physically injures anyone?

12. what do you mean a "man of God"?
Look. The US backed Saddam Hussein for many years and we knew what he was. Even so we insisted he was "good". The US has done many horrible things. Don't you think the people in Lebanon and Libya would laugh in your face if you tried to tell them what a good man raygun was after he bombed them? (and I'm not saying that anybody here would say he was a good man, but many in the US think he's goddamn near a saint) no they probably think he's hellbound. Good and Evil is a relative term. Everyone is capable of both and it isn't because of some supernatural supreme being. Saddam quite possibley was a good father and grandfather. but like all men he allowed himself to become corrupted by absolute power.
