Rush endorsed CLINTON? in 1992 WTF?

Heard this on the way to work today. I guess it's their 15th anniversary and they were doing a "Best of EIB" or something like that.

Paraphrase:

Show from 10/22/92: Rush sounded REALLY depressed and said that he had reluctlantly decided to endorse Bush's oponent, Clinton in the race.

Then a break.

Then, lady calls in and is livid and by then Rush is backtracking.
Lady: You're not voting for Bush, you're voting for Clinton? How can you do this to us.

Rush: I NEVER said that, I NEVER said that. Why are you focussing on something in the past from 25 minutes ago?

Lady: I HEARD you with my own ears.

:wtf: I heard him with MY own ears.

Do any of you veteran politicos remember this? What in the world was going on there?????

1. He was making a funny. I forget the context, but Clinton had said or done

something in the distant past that he (Clinton) didn't feel was worth
dredging up years later. It might even have been Whitewater. Very clever that Rumballs!

I only heard about 20 minutes of the broadcast and I was seriously befuddled. Could not believe my ears!

3. I remember it.

The doo-doo heads were calling in whining about Bush's poll numbers, so El Rushbutt started saying that he was "listening to the polls" and had decided to throw in the towel and vote for Clinton because "Bush had no chance."

It was all a ploy to stir up the sheep. Which they fell for. They called in droves pleading with him not to "give up", etc. The average IQ of the fans of the protector of the downtrodden rich being somewhat below that of boiled turnips. Hell, if he farted on the air the fans would swear it was the voice of god.

rush is endorsing sharpton becuase he believes sharpton can't win because in his twisted mind everyone out there is as racist as he himself is and thus would never actually vote for sharpton.

I read his history some time back. He was not a right winger in the beginning. In fact, he didn't get along well with daddy Bush until daddy invited him to dinner (and a golf outing I think).

This royal treatment and access to the Whitehouse so affected him, I guess you can call it a signification emotional experience--that he's been spouting nonsense for the right wing ever since.

A story I read on him said if Clinton had taken Rush to dinner, we might have had the best mouthpiece ever. As much as we all hate him, you do have to admit he's good at what he does.
