If you can, watch the video at this link also, you'll see a lobbyist from the car makers blatantly lying her head off.
And getting caught.
MADISON, Wis. -- Everyone who has had a lemon for a car knows how frustrating it can be, and now there's a major power struggle brewing to change the law set up to protect consumers.
(snip)
At the center of the battle is a clause allowing consumers to sue for double damages if they reject settlement offers. Car makers say attorneys are driving that one all the way to the bank.
Some drivers think car companies just want to find ways to force consumers to get less than they deserve by strengthening corporate lawyers.
Representatives of the University of Wisconsin Law School's Consumer Law Litigation Clinic say they've repeatedly asked car makers for concrete examples of corruption by consumers or their attorneys and so far, they say not a single case has been produced.
