Hillary Clinton.
I Know Why When Hillary Was In The White House Alot Of People
Had Problems With Her. You See First Ladies Smile... Shake Hands
And Wave. Hillary Did That But She Also Shook The System. She Was A Former Attorney And Was A Strong Supporter Of Bill And His Bid For The
White House. Hillary Did Not Go By The Company Line. Notice How Laura Bush Gets A Free Pass In The Media. Laura Smiles, Shakes Hands And
Waves. Laura Goes By The Company Line And Nobody Gets On Her Case.
You Have Strong Women Who Are Not Going To Do What You Want Them To
Do But What They Think Is The Right Way To Get Things Done. Hillary
Did This.

1. I'm going to see her in August
She's doing a book signing and I'm number three hundres something, or toward the front of the line. Not bad for the suburbs on the opposite side of the country from where she's a Senator.

4. Aparently there isn't a schedule
At least that I could find using google. But she won't be there on the 8th, because she'll be in the Suburbs of Seattle. I don't know how much time she has to go on a book tour because she is a full time Senator.

This is the biggest thing to happen in the North End since Bill spoke at Shoreline Community College. From a few weeks ago until she speaks, we're playing "is that a secret service agent?" Basically whenever my friends or I see someone dressed well in or around the book store, we ask each other "Think that's a secret service agent?"

3. I actually believe that more people like Hillary than Laura
but that's a different matter.

However, I really like that the first lady is political. I fully supported Hillary Rodham Clinton for the Senate and really wanted Tipper Gore to run in 2002. Many people have expressed interest in ending this "spouse runs for the Senate routine", but I think that these women have a lot to offer. I think that Republican First Ladies should also be political (one of the main reasons I think that Laura isn't is that she is probably far too liberal to ever be able to raise money for her husband). For those people who think the political spouse trend will end, I believe we may yet see two more candidates in 2006: Lynne Cheney and Theresa Heinz Kerry. If John Kerry doesn't win the nomination in 2004, I think Theresa Heinz will consider running against Santorum. She's so popular in Pennsylvania, and though she's said in the past she has no interest in running, I think that she would consider changing her mind.

I also believe that Lynne Cheney's husband will be out of a job in 2004. AMERICA, DON'T PROVE ME WRONG! I've heard that Sen. Craig Thomas is considering running for governor in 2006, so Lynne Cheney may run for his seat (she's expressed interest in the past). Though I would venemently oppose such a senator, Wyoming loves the Cheneys and is fairly conservative, so Lynne Cheney would be a formidable candidate.

6. It's time for First Ladies, if they are so inclined to go
Edited on Sat Aug-02-03 01:04 AM by madmax
work with her husband or stand in his shadow. If she chooses the latter so be it. But, the days of women being a trophy or a lap dog are over and America needs to get over it.

I would like to see more first Ladies in the mold of Hillary Clinton. She's a role model and she has faced a renlentless witch hunt with grace, charm, and dignity. Sometimes I want to slap my President Bill for his stupidity but, that's Hill's job not mine.

7. What????
I'm not sure what you're trying to say. I think we all need to realize that this is not a Hillary vs. Laura contest. Most women (and men) can appreciate both styles of First Ladies. I don't think it is politically wise to attack Laura Bush because she is not as politically active like Hillary was. Both women and styles are accepted by most Americans.

As for Hillary, she is a great lady but we need to forever abandon the notion of her becoming President. She has too many negatives, Hillary is perceived by many to be cold and calculating. Despite her intelligence and competence, she does not have the warmth and charisma necessary to be elected President. In addition, there is the not unfounded belief that she has obtained the status she has in a large part due to who she married rather than individual accomplishment. I think that America is ready for a woman President, but only if they believe it was truly earned. I fear that the negative turnout of anti-Hillary voters could make a mockery of our party for years to come. She is simply vehemently disliked by a large number of the voting popultion. We need to stop looking towards an unelectable Hillary for our future, at the sane time we need to realize that the non entity Laura Bush holds a certain appeal.

Let's move forward. We have attractive female (and male) up and comers in states like Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Wyoming, and New Mexico. The Hillary vs. Laura war is a no win battle for both sides.
Hillary Clinton will never be President, despite how favorably we compare her to Laura Bush. DU is not America. Let's move forward and win instead of fighting losing battles.

8. Hillary is HIGHLY qualified
She has the bona fides and has indeed EARNED her position through accomplishment.

I also don't agree that that we should abandon the notion of her becoming President. I think she can do it. She is laying the groundwork now and will be a FORMIDABLE foe in 2008 or 2012.

The negatives are all percieved from the ones who wouldn't vote for her anyway. They will make a lot of noise, but they always do. It will have been 8 years since the Clintons left the White House, and a lot of the steam will be lost by then. Especially after bush has totally ruined the landscape - the Clintons won't look so bad by comparison.

Governor here in Michigan? Jennifer Granholm? She rocks, there is no doubt. Unfortunately she was born in Canada and can never be Prez.

11. One thing
Despite her intelligence and competence, she does not have the warmth and charisma necessary to be elected President.

It is precisely because of her intelligence and competence that Hillary is percieved as cold and calculating.

The rediculous notion that smart=cold and unemotional is what we on the left need to work to change in this country. Read even deeper and you get the notion that smart=not feminine, not a *real* woman .

This is exactly what the neo-cons buy into and what we on the left need to work to stop once and for all. Then Hillary (and any smart, competent woman) can easily be President.

Go Hil!!!!!!!!

13. reminds me of "man hating lesbian"
that kind of reminds me of when people say "man hating lesbian". they assume because one may hate men they are a lesbian, or because one is a lesbian they hate men. in this it's intelligence meaning cold and calculating. as bill clinton says, these things say a lot more about the person saying it than the one it's said about.

14. Do you really need warmth and charisma to be president?
Could have fooled me. Is that just to be a female president? But who am I? I think Hillary DOES have warmth and charisma.

15. With all respect,
you're wrong:

In addition, there is the not unfounded belief that she has obtained the status she has in a large part due to who she married rather than individual accomplishment...

You might also say the same of her husband. I believe that Hillary Rodham was and is a crucial factor in her husband's success, it goes both ways with them. I believe that she inspires him and at least in part, drives him.

19. Up and Comers
I think that Hillary is qualified to be president, but I'm wondering about your up and comers list

I know these states
Arizona-Janet Naplitano
Kansas-Kathleen Sebelius
Michigan-Jennifer Granholm (though she can never run for president)

But who are your up and comers in Wyoming and New Mexico?

12. Jennifer Granholm/Hillary Clinton
This ticket,if we can waive the natural born requirement for Jennifer
(She is Canada born), will be a formidable democratic ticket. Both these ladies are intelligent, articulate, true democrats and what is more, very popular. No Republican ticket can even dream about coming close! My vote is for this ticket in 2008.

16. janet napolitano
janet napolitano sounds good also. i saw her give the speech at the dlc thing earlier this week. she made a joke (though true) about bush wanting to leave no millionaires behind rather than leave no child behind. i think she also vetoed some bill republicans tried to pass to cancel the democratic primary in arizona.

18. Waive the natural born requirement??
That won't happen, and shouldn't.
Can you imagine the furor on the right if we wanted to do a little thing like change the Constitution of the United States in order to run a candidate for president?
On the other hand, they might love the idea, and we'll end up running against a Repuke ticket that consists of Arnold Schwartzeneger and Mel Gibson.

20. hillary new book a must read for all americans.
It is wonderful

Accept this as truth---HILLARY CLINTON WILL NOT TELL A LIE WHICH IS A STATEMENT WHICH IS INTENDED TO DECEIVE.

NEVER HAS. NEVER WILL. SHE LIVES HER METHODIST FAITH. SHE WAS A LAY MINISTER IN THE CHURCH. SHE PRAYS. SHE PRAYS. SHE DOES IT WITHOUT PROMOTING IT.

HILLARY AND BILL PRAY TOGETHER. ALWAYS HAVE. THEY CONSIDER IT A VERY PRIVATE PART OF LIFE.

BILL AND AL PRAYED BEFORE MEETINGS WHICH THEY HELD ON WEDNESDAYS WHEN THEY WERE TOGETHER IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE FROM BUSH CROWD. PROMOTE PROMOTE PROMOTE.
