25 minutes of call in on C-Span this AM....
the subject being, agree/disagree with bush's policies brought forth many calls on the "disagree" line, and virtually nothing of substance on the "agree" line.

This simple excercise of Free Speech tells me many things, most importantly though, is the notion that there are not many people out there agreeing with bush's policies and willing to talk about WHY they agree.

Of course, there is nothing scientific in the ratings of calls, but it is obvious to me, that there are many people out in the country that are upset with bush and are not afraid to say so. The last caller, called bush a 'jerk', (mild description, IMHO, I have better words to describe the cretin, but my call didn't make it through).

Every day, I talk to people about this administration, and without fail, someone who declared bush the 'greatest thing since sliced bread', turns tail, and goes against the admin. I am in Nebraska, and if these people are seeing this administration as clueless, the country at large, may well be asking for bush's head on a pike in the near future.

I need another pot of coffee, this is going to be a great day!

1. Buyers remorse
Many people have the feelings here they fell for the bait and switch and now have a bad taste in their mouth. Can you think of any group outside of the rich and the chickenhawks that chimp* hasn't alianated? How can they realistically think this retard is going to be reselected?

2. it's about Watergate now
and there has been numerous calls one was implicating Rove's indirect involvement of Watergate (dirty tricks campaign) and calls asking Jack Nelson the reporter to investigate Rove, caller said where there's smoke there's fire.....I don't think Jack's
interested.

Your right the people are pissed I don't care what the polls say *Bush (his policies) are not as popular as the media and his talking heads are spinning.

I'll say it once again......

*Bush in the end, is going to make Nixon look like a Saint

I found this on an LBN thread. Bush is promising to outsource jobs to India despite states protest. Because they pay taxes on wages here, as workers on visas, he feels their country needs to be compensated for their not paying into Indias social security and retirement funds. He is promising $20 billion in money/business exchange plus jobs to employ their people. I will look for the link. Meanwhile NC lost how many jobs this weekend from factory closings?

US gives India assurance on outsourcing
TIMES NEWS NETWORK< SATURDAY, JUNE 14, 2003 10:01:26 AM >
WASHINGTON: The Indian government and businesses have won a major assurance from the Bush Administration on the issue of outsourcing.

A senior US official has said Washington is against any attempt by state governments to legislate a ban on outsourcing on the lines of what is being considered in New Jersey and other states.
The official, US Trade Representative Robert Zoellick, gave this assurance in course of three hours of intensive talks with Indian Commerce Minister Arun Jaitley, during which they discussed subjects ranging from the movement of people to the export of Indian mangoes to the US.

The length of the talks itself was indicative of the wide range of bilateral and multilateral topics under discussion as the two sides try and bump up their modest $ 15 billion trade to greater levels.
But the controversial issue of outsourcing was clearly on top of the pile and Jaitley said he had explained that the public and political opinion in India regards the move by some US states as "completely contrary to the spirit of market access and creates an adverse environment when negotiations were on in various other sectors."
Zoellick, he said, was alert to the brouhaha the issue had caused in India and conveyed to him that the Bush Administration opposes the states’ move and is persuading them not to go ahead with it.

In at least half a dozen states, state legislators are considering legislation to put a crimp on outsourcing claiming it is taking away local jobs. Outsourcing to India is projected to be a $ 20 billion business in the next five years, mostly from the United States.
"The essence of market access in services really is individuals and companies -- that people are entitled to the most efficient service at the best rate -- and if these efficient services are provided by India and some other country, we feel it will not be appropriate for legislation to impede the market forces," Jaitley told correspondents after his day-long meetings in Washington.

The Indian team also managed to red flag another contentious issue that has gone unattended for several years. This involves Indian workers on temporary visas having to pay US social security taxes without enjoying the benefits accruing to them because they return home before the ten years it takes for the contributions to mature.
Each year, Indian businesses and workers are estimated to pay a staggering $ 500 million to the US Social Security system. Although many of the workers become immigrants and stay on to benefit from their contribution, the process is unfair on the increasing number who return to India after having debited up to 15 per cent of their salary into the US system.

The US has treaties (called a Totalisation Agreement) with some countries that enjoin it to return the social security contribution to workers when they return home. The Indian side has persuaded Washington to consider similar law with respect to India, Jaitley said.

3. deep down everyone knows Dubya is a dope
I mean, come on, how could they not? Just listening to him trying to speak is excruciating. However, a lot of people said BUT HE'LL BE SURROUNDED BY GOOD PEOPLE. I think the shift in opinion is coming as these people realize that the puppet handlers are a bunch of morons, too.

8. If The Dems get their act together...
...he'll drop even farther down in the polls. They've been so hesitant to criticize him that his handlers have gotten away with portraying him as forceful and determined. He's simply a little wuss whose never had to take responsibility for hsi actions.
