Two Popes

Who died and made Bush Pope?
That's the question I was asking myself after I heard Bush's press conference on Wednesday.
When asked about his views on homosexuality, Bush launched into a little homily. "I am mindful that we are all sinners," he said, and then, trying to lighten the blow, he quoted the Biblical verse about the hypocritical person who worries about other people's sins but not his own, larger ones. Bush ended his sermon, however, by advocating the codification of marriage as only a male-female union.
In doing so, he clashed with the spirit of the recent Supreme Court decision, which ringingly endorsed the rights of gays and lesbians to be treated equally under the law.
