8. IMO, if it's going to be someone it'll be him...

the question is whether Bush can do it with US troops stuck in Iraq, Afghanistan, and now Haiti, all the while under the scrutiny of the Democratic candidates.

They've tried a coup and failed. Chavez is smart; I'm sure he's well-prepared for another one. He also has strong popular support. The BFEE will have to do something direct and blatant to knock him out of office, and I think (and certainly hope) that they can't manage it.

12. Alas, Chavez has his own problems...

not the least of which is Cisneros-- likely sponsored by the CIA and preparing for civil war.

Chavez, like Aristede, is far too friendly with Castro, and has made a few too many mistakes and enemies.

One wonders if there can ever be an end to this?

9. Saddam was already a demon. Americans know nothing about

Haiti, and even less about Venezuela. I chose Venezuela because, hey, we buy so much of their oil. Will it be as easy to demonize Chavez? How will the *ites push this one considering the Chavez probably has Americans sending him internal documents whenever it is convenient. It makes me feel that a secret war would be difficult.

11. It's been too long for that to matter. Americans have a short

collective attention span. They'd have to wage a serious anti-Chavez propaganda campaign, and with the things coming out of Chavez's mouth during the last 48 hours, this is all too possible. If FAUX starts putting Chavez/Venezuela into their daily talking points, then we'll know what's coming.
