MoveOn Rallies in Florida to protest the Medicare bill...Good for them!
Dear MoveOn Member,

Health care costs are rising. Millions are uninsured and Census figures show rising numbers of seniors living in poverty.

Yet the Bush administration's response is the new Medicare law, which will do little to hold down drug prices while up to four million retirees will lose their existing health coverage. The new law is a travesty.

That's why MoveOn.org is holding local rallies in Tampa, Bradenton, and Orlando this Thursday to highlight the problems in the current law and call on Congress to Take Back Medicare. Sign up to join us:

http://www.moveon.org/florida/

Both events are this Thursday, March 4, at 10 AM. The locations are (directions are below):
Tampa--Lykes Gaslight Square Park, 450 North Franklin (at the intersection of Franklin & Kennedy, at Franklin St. Mall)
Bradenton--Bradenton Central Library, 1301 Barcarrota Blvd. West
Orlando--The pavilions at Maitland Community Park, 1400 Mayo Ave., Maitland, FL 32751

Dozens of local MoveOn members have been working together for weeks to organize these events. They are working to draw media coverage to this important issue, and your presence will help increase media turnout.

At the event you'll hear from MoveOn volunteers, the Florida Association of Retired Americans, Florida Consumer Action Network, and seniors whose lives are affected by the changes in the law.

President Bush is touting this law as a huge boon to seniors--you have probably seen the administration's TV ads promoting the changes. In fact, the biggest winners are drug companies and many seniors are left in the lurch. Join us to show that Floridians won't fall for the President's spin:

With provisions of the Medicare law starting to take effect, the time to act is now. We hope you will join us.

Sincerely,

--Adam, Amy, and Andrew

1. thanx, this the first I heard of it.
there has been nothing in the St. Pete times or the Tampa Tribune. They should contact Harold Troxler at the SP Times, he's so pissed at what's happening in the state, he'll have a column on wednesday about it.

3. I contacted the Trib and the St. Pete Times by email.
Wouldn't hurt to call them if you are not long distance like I am.
