Michael Moore at Oscars last night?
I didn't see all of the Oscars.

I've seen people here refer to a skit or joke in which Michael Moore is crushed by a Republican elephant.

Can someone describe it? Was it Michael Moore doing a self-parody at the event?

1. Crushed by a LOTR "elephaunt" using footage from ROTK
Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 08:17 PM by Paragon
Mike had a camera over his shoulder and was repeating his "shame on you" speech from last year's ceremony before he was crushed by an elephaunt ridden by Billy-Crystal-as-Legolas.

Very funny, and very cool of Mike to do it.

9. It was THE "oliphant" from ROTK
There were many segments with people digitized into recent movies as humorous parodies.

2. It was a short clip at the beginning of the show
Edited on Mon Mar-01-04 08:29 PM by Columbia
It was a parody of Lord of the Rings with Moore spewing something about the Hobbits and fictitious war before he was crushed by one the elephants in the movie.

To clear up any confusion, Moore was not present at the ceremony, it was a pre-taped clip.

Edit: it was Hobbits and not Orcs.

11. Of course I didn't watch it.
I prefer to comment on shit blindly and without basis. What's your point?

Care to define "spewing" for us?

12. Figured as much
I'll take the standard definition of spew from dictionary.com

spew ( P ) Pronunciation Key (spy)
v. spewed, spew·ing, spews
v. tr.
To send or force out in or as if in a stream; eject forcefully or in large amounts: a volcano that spewed molten lava; spewed invective at his opponent.

You guys sure get into a big hissy fit over a descriptive verb...

13. I see that sarcasm escapes you as well.
What do you mean by "you guys"?

I'm one of the least PC dudes here, BTW. Still, I find your usage of "spewing" and "you guys" circumspect. Explain, and I'll gladly apologize. If by "spewing", you meant "telling the truth before the truth was officially released", I'll understand. With regards to last night's ceremony, Moore was simply engaging in some self-deprecating humor. He does that a lot, if you'd care to learn a bit about him.

"Spewing", eh?

14. As it does you
As for "you guys," I mean you and Paragon who seem to be up in arms over a whole lot of nothing.

I'm aware that the segment was self-deprecating, which is why spewing is so appropriate. His tirade about Hobbits and fictious war and such and being over the top is what makes it humorous. I found the bit to be one of the funniest parts of the show.
