Poll question: Osama Confusion
I often hear people at DU talk about Bush & his cronies being the enemy, rather than our political rivals. When my thinking gets down into my reptilian stem and I think only in terms of territory and competition, or even when I think rationally about how the Bush administration has crassly exploited the terrorists attacks, there's a part of my mind that sees Bush as the bigger enemy than bin Laden and his pals.

I know that's crazy, but at times like that I can really understand where the MIHOPers get their ideas from. I mean, rationally I want a monster like bin Laden to come back to the US and face justice in court of law. In my heart I'd love to see that happen. But then when I think about how Bush would exploit a capture of OBL, and when I think about the insults to the American sense of justice that Bush will practice if he can get OBL before his bogus, Stalinistic, secret military tribunals, frankly a part of me kind of wants OBL to stay at large for a few months into 2005 and then to get nabbed.

I'm wondering where the rest of DU stands on this. How do you see the situation and how do you feel about OBL vs Bush as our greater enemy.

1. OK,this is a confusing poll, but these aren't simple issues. Input welcome
I want to hear (or read) people's comments on this matter, not just yer votes. Besides, I'm having Diebold count this poll's votes, so you need to speak up if you wanna be heard anyway. How do you feel about the relative evils of Bush and the blacksheep cousin of Bush's business partners?

2. Side Show
The U.S. helped spawn OBL, and 9/11 was a case of chickens coming home to roost. The capture of OBL might unfortunately sway the election, but it would do very little to prevent future terrorist attacks. Al Qaeda is not a purely heirarchical organization; plus, we are spawning new generations of terrorists.

I don't know if Bush LIHOP or MIHOP, but his administration at the very least was negligent, and poses a far greater threat to our country and the rest of the world than OBL ever did.

3. Despite the scale of damage, don't you think Osama is eviller than Bush?
Bush screws up and gets more killed, but his screw ups and greed kill by happenstance rather than out of a master plan to create a world war. In the long run, Bush is more containable and Osama has a nastier world vision. In my opinion, claro.
