Progressive DUer for Congress.. Need your help!

Much like Jeff Seeman, I have launched a progressive campaign for Congress. As of now, I am THE ONLY DEMOCRAT IN THE RACE vs. six extremely well-funded, hardcore right-wing Republicans. Check out their sites:

http://www.bradsmithforcongress.com/
http://www.genederossett.com/
http://www.clarkbisbee.com/
http://www.pauldeweese.com/

I am a working class citizen in this very working class district, going against a bunch of millionaires.

Our campaign has been focused on RAISING PEOPLE, not money. We have recruited almost 100 dedicated volunteers into our organization, most of them young people, many of which have never voted before. We are operating outside of the Democratic establishment, of which many members are incensed that someone outside of the political class is running for office.

These two factors combine to create a desperate need of DU help! In order to represent the values of those who are unable to contribute financially, we need the support of those good-willed people who ARE able to help.

WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR MUCH: If it's $5 you can give, fine. $10? Better. $20? Excellent! More than that? TREMENDOUS!

DU can play a HUGE part in making this happen! The books close on March 31, and we will have to make our finances public. Whatever we have on March 31 will have a HUGE impact on how much we will be able to raise the rest of the way on out. If we have just a few thousand dollars, the Democratic establishment, labor, the NEA, etc., will view our campaign as a lost cause. If we can at least crack the $10,000 mark, we will have some credibility, particularly with a large number of individual donations.

PLEASE HELP. $5, $10, $20... More would be great! Whatever you can do.

Like Jeff Seeman, we are holding a fundraiser for the month of March. Our goal is 10 contributions per day, or a total of 300. Our monetary goal is $6000 ($20 each). PLEASE HELP US MAKE THIS HAPPEN to score a win for democracy and the progressive movement.

Progressive causes Jason Seagraves advocates:

* Education as a civil right
* College for everyone; college debt forgiveness
* Universal health care coverage
* Living wage for independent adults
* Break up corporate monopolies; empower small businesses
* Abolish corporate welfare; create greater corporate accountability
* Legislate against corporate mega-farms
* Repeal NAFTA, withdraw from the WTO; 100% pro union and pro labor
* Support Instant Runoff Voting, third-party empowerment, public financing, statehood for D.C., the abolition of the Electoral College and various other political reforms
* Repeal the PATRIOT Act
* Reduce government waste and cut down the bloated Pentagon budget
* Equal rights (including marriage) of same-sex couples
* Separation of church and state
* Protect the environment through trade agreements and domestic law

My entire platform is spelled out at http://www.jasonseagraves.com

THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

8. minors cannot donate
Reason: The wealthy were using their children to circumvent campaign finance laws. For example, a husband could donate the maximum $1000 for himself, his wife, and his two kids; $4000 total. But the problem is that when they made this rule, they also upped the limit to $2000. Now that rich guy could just donate $2000 for him, $2000 for his wife; $4000 total, the same. Meanwhile YOUNG PEOPLE ARE SHUT OUT OF POLITICS. I think young people should be allowed to vote, but under 18 should have a lower allowance level-- maybe $100 or $200 max? This way, it is more reasonable that the person would be dedicating their own money.
