57. With few exceptions, The CBC seem to be the only LIBERALS in DC!!
Everyone else is licking their wounds and bitching about not being on top (Nader) cowtowing to this little puppet (the DLC), or are blindly following him into an American-made Holocaust (the RNC). Thank God for the Congressional Black Caucus!!! If we had to depend on limp-wristed punks at the helm of the DNC, we mind as well build fallout shelters now!

Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 12:40 PM by calimary
And by now, I'm just damned tired of waking up every morning with a knot in my stomach.

I'm constantly amazed at the growing depth of my contempt for these people. And yes, it does color my opinion of people who support him. I start wondering what's wrong with them...

I keep wishing on a star every night, and saying "WHEN will it END?" Every night. And again in the morning when I wake up. It's like a hostage-hold. And WE are the hostages.

58. A pharmacist told a friend of mine it's just flying off the shelves
Mind you, that was 14 months ago he said that.

Late last fall for the first time in my life I started taking an anti-depressant. Just as an fyi, not all of us "present as" depressed; I had asked my family doctor about this before, but he pooh-poohed the notion. For someone like me, it was embarrassing to ask in the first place, so I was incredibly grateful when my therapist asked me if I'd "be willing to try" a 6-month course because it "appeared I might be stuck in depression."

It took awhile to get the dose high enough, but it has helped quite a bit. I'm still not the optimistic person I once was, but at my husband's b'day party this past weekend I actually laughed.

I figure optimism will probably return, not with a higher dose of drugs, but when Bush's political career is dead and buried and a few of his pals are up on federal charges.

Edited on Tue Mar-02-04 12:49 AM by JohnOneillsMemory
I sympathize with the Texans and Floridians who have to deal with Bushes in their state houses.

I moved from corporate Connecticut to the SF Bay area to be in the most progressive city in the USA. Berkeley, home of the Free Speech Movement and the Black Panthers. And then my governor became....um..
...er...ahem...ARNOLD FRIKKIN' SHWARZENGROPER! Just surreal. California has been attacked as an enemy of the Dominionist Neocons.

They used the same damn tactics as every other overthrown democratic leader in countries around the world. They destabilized the economy with Enron and energy trading scams, and then staged a coup against the Democratic governor and installed a corporate-backed strongman with Nazi ties who abuses women. FUCK. There is no escaping. We must stand and fight these assholes to save ourselves and the rest of the world from these corporateer hijackers. We absolutely must. No choice.

I have a cousin who is my age (42) and she works as a translator at the NSA. She has no clue what the US Gov't is doing to create and train terrorists and prevent democracy everywhere. Or so she claims.

Some days it is hard to cope with denial or blind acceptance of 'conventional wisdom' and disengagement. Even my college history professor mother flinches away from knowing what is going on today because it upsets her. It just blows her mind. My father knows what's going on and is depressed about it. He's convinced that resistance is futile. I try to tell him that the fascists haven't won yet, folks still do react when they hear of injustice and abuse of power.

That's why this forum so important. It keeps me going to know that there are thousands of people who know we're living in a well disguised lie matrix and yet a web of informed activists who only meet each other on a small screen is organizing and educating and inspiring people to get both a clue and a grip on controlling their own lives.

I do like Jesse Jackson's tag: "Keep...hope...alive!"

Maybe a little ice cream would help...

20. My ABB is fine
The more I look at that thing known as *, the more I find my strength to tread on. I just started looking into this link passed by a few times before and didn't know how it was fitting together, till just lately

http://www.spiritone.com/~gdy52150/noon.html
http://www.spiritone.com/~gdy52150/intro.html

The Nazi Hydra In America is a currently an ongoing work in progress of the White Rose. The Nazi Hydra was conceived to fill a gap in the literature by providing a detailed overview of the influence of fascism within the United States. The intent and motivation for such a project was twofold: to sound an ominous warning as to the direction this country is taking at the hands of the right wing and to provide a convenient all encompassing source on fascism in the Untied States for the reader. In this regards the chapters are heavily documented. When complete the book is projected to span sixteen chapters. Chapters will be made available on this web site as they are completed.

After over five years into this project I now understand why such a book was never attempted before. Such a detailed accounting of fascism with the Untied States would literally fill volumes. Since this is an overview many of the details had to be omitted. Hence, throughout the book I urge the reader to read the sources for further details.

Beginning the project I naively thought I had a good understanding of the scope of problem and that I could complete the entire book in two years. Before a year had past I found that many of my assumptions were incorrect and the project would last much longer. In fact, nothing from the original outline remains unchanged. Even the title was changed to better describe the book. New chapters were added and old ones deleted. But then such changes are the hallmark of good research.

The real danger from fascism is that it is so insidious that it can creep into every aspect of our daily lives unnoticed, including religious groups. In fact many religious groups were founded by fascists in the 1930s and played a large role in propagating fascism throughout the country. For the reader looking for a quick definition of fascism the slippery slope to fascism begins when the government puts the interests of corporations ahead of the rights of the people and their interest. Remember only people have rights; paper institutions created by society have no rights; they only have an obligation to serve the public. When they fail at that they have lost the right to exist.
(snip)

Some call them fascist, some call em clan, some call em corporatist, some call em PNAC what ever you call them, they don't really care. The thing is they have coalesced

The information is out there

and it's pretty damn bad.

Didn't help that I was awakened this morning by a buzz saw from about ten feet outside my bedroom window.

I wanted to commit some violence, and later, I thought "well of course I do, after all, isn't that what Bush is teaching us? If we don't like somebody, just to kill them?"

What's really frustrating is knowing what a menace Bush is to the world, and we're supposed to wait for a fucking election to get rid of him?

I mean, how much more damage are we gonna let this guy do before JANUARY? That's almost a YEAR away!!!

I've taken to mooning him whenever I see his pasty, pathetic mug on TV. Or flipping him the saluting finger. We need to keep working, and stay vigilant, though.

I went to vote this morning and had to wait for a Democratic booth to open up! Both were already occupied when I got there. Nobody in the republi-CON booths. So I take that as a hopeful sign.

But November's a LONG way off. We can't give up. Not now.

It must be horribly nerve-racking to have him there!

I hope he stays safe and comes home soon! Remember to take care of yourself, try to find some moments of peace.

When I've been under extreme stress, simple things like washing dishes by hand (and focusing only on that) or hand work like quilting, woodworking or needlework can be grounding.

It's OK to take a break from worrying!

Honestly, I hate the man. Remember, I had to deal with him as governor, too. At least then, the Lt. Gov had all the power and BushBaby came in at 9:00, took a nap at lunch, played video games and left at 3:00. He still managed to do a lot of damage, though. I become enraged - moreso with each passing day. I was hospitalized with a perforated gastric ulcer and I'm convinced that all the rage and agitation I feel had something to do with it (do you think I can sue him?). I'm taking an antidepressant and an anti-stomach acid pill every day. I think he's trying to kill us.

46. He's even more incompetent and corrupt than we thought he would be:
Bush's level of corruption is in vivid color, even many die-in-the-wool Neo-Cons are having their doubts. After 9-11, all worse case scenarios seemed rather tame. You can now be jailed with out trial or due process simply because you have an Arabic surname or protested the IMF. We have actively and openly attempted to over thrown populist leaders in Latin America and the Caribbean. He got caught lying about why he's went war and he's still not impeached. He's pissed off damn near everyone on the planet. He wants to save the forest by cutting down trees? And now, this fool wants to make a constitutional ammendment opposing gay marriage?!! What the hell is that crap?! No Rethug, his father , Reagan....even that nutcase Nixon were never given this much free reign to live out their authoritarian wet dreams.

No even the most ardent Clinton-haters from the left can make the argument that Bush and Gore would be the same (which is why Nader's run will fall on deaf ears.) If he wins (or steals) the white house this time-- ALL BETS ARE OFF!!! The return of the draft, martial law on college campuses, all civil rights and liberties won since the 40's will be overturned and everyone not working Walmart of McDonald's will be competing with bangladeshi teenagers making $3.00 a day for their jobs. Even Noam Chomsky has concurred that no Dem would ever be this downright nasty and evil.

The DLC dems like Clinton are punks who like to dance with the Devil, the Bush Crime Family IS the Devil! He's got to go!!

53. I don't know that I could handle another four years of having
to listen to him whistle out of his ass. I might have to turn off the TV, radio, internet, even stay off DU. I just couldn't handle it. I'd have to politically hibernate until someone wakes me up and tells me, "Our long national nightmare has ended."

54. On the contrary I smell blood
I sense he will be on his knees before long.
Humpty Dumpty at least had help, I see rats leaping off the ship.

64. LOL! yes!
I am in the same boat, but more hours. I like to leave the politics to the professionals, but I am so pissed off right now, I can't stand it! IMPEACH, IMPEACH, IMPEACH! I do not like it when my alleged President is dumber than me. It's dangerous for the country and has proven so.

56. I am exhausted. Each and every day some new outrage, lie, act
of thuggery saddens me and wears me down.

This last 3 years seems like a lifetime..so much evil and destruction done in such a short period of time.

There will be dancing in the street in front of my house when his ass is canned.

65. Have a repug friend
Bet him I could find a Bush lie every day for a week. I went two weeks straight. He had to call me off. He's still a moe-ron that is voting for Bush, but the majority of my friends who lean Republican think Bush is a fucking moron that needs to be thrown out of office. The polarity this ahole generates will be worse than Clinton ever was. And thanks to the ahole Repugs, I think politics are going worse than they have ever gone. They stole civility and raped it.

59. I've had Bush fatigue since Jan 20, 2001 when I walked
through the cold wet streets of DC protesting his appointment.

60. Well I won't shop at Staples
because the CEO is a big bush contributor. I have told everyone I know and they have sent their business to Office Max or Office Depot.

Any company I find out supports the bush campaign, I specifically do not patronize.

My bush fatigue is pretty bad, but I don't care. All the more reason to get his ass out. The great thing is seeing all these NEW cases of bush fatigue around me. YEEE-FREAKING-HA, BABY!

66. Good thing our Staples store closed I guess.
I can't remember ever going in there.

But as to Bush fatigue, it's real.

61. I gotta quit drinking coffee cuz I'm so angry
that it comes out at, well, people that it shouldn't come out at.

It's pretty damn bad.

I can't believe we're gonna let this guy be in power for almost another YEAR. He can do so much fucking damage between now and then. I'm worried he's gonna nuke somebody. No joke.

62. Forehead bloody daily for 3-plus years.

It couldn't hurt more if I'd pulled all my fingernails out and poured acid all over the stumps.

63. I am coming to the conclusion that...
if he does it, I cannot but find fault in it. I honestly do not know how I could possibly identify a worse president. There is simply no sense in getting worked up over what Shrub does any more. It will be the wrong thing. I guess I just have to face that and hope to god Kerry isn't Dukakis II.
