Will BushCo get away with their Haiti coup de tat?
Please say no even if you think yes.

But keep in mind that our great liberal media is very much against us. I want to go to the nytimes building and shake somebody..look at their headline for tuesday!

Haitian Rebels Enter Capital; Aristide Bitter
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/02/international/americas/02HAIT.html?hp

He's bitter!?!?!?! How can "bitter" be used in this context?

Oh, today is a day to make you crazy!!!!!

5. "It's easier to apologize than to get permission"
that's how Bushco operates.

Except they never even apologize. They just say "so sue us".

They do what they want, knowing full well that what they do cannot be undone.

Try unscrambling an egg sometime.

6. Tuesday 12:00PM CST...24 Hours Later
This story is gone...vanished...caput. Primaries, more bombings in Iraq, Oscars (still), Stern (still), Martha, Kobe...drone, drone drone...

Haiti...no oil, black, non-English, voodoo...find an excuse or a stereotype...people don't connect. This is just another Woody Allen Banana's revolution...that made nary a blip on the political radar.

What an outrage considering we have witnessed a brazen overthrow of a soverign government under false pretenses by a regime that knows it can get away with it.

8. Here's a clue:
Yesterday evening, CNN broke a WORLD EXCLUSIVE STORY with a LIVE interview on the phone with the President of a country who stated quite clearly that he had been taken out of his home by US military, and sent overseas.

It was probably biggest real news scoop CNN has had in 10 years -- maybe ever.

Less than an hour later, they were back to happy talk about Kobe, Martha and whatever little blonde girl happens to be missing this week, interspersed with Hill and Knowlton-produced footage from Happy Haiti.

No mention of their world exclusive scoop, other than stating as an aside that Aristide says he was kidnapped, but that he is a little, well, you know (ie., the insinuation was that he is crazy).

When a news station drops a huge, world shaking scoop like a hot potato, what does that tell you about whether they intend on following up on it?

9. actually, NYT story not as bad as headline
it includes some interesting nuggets

Now that he is gone, the army may be back. In the rebels' ranks at the old army headquarters was Paul Arcelin, 60, who identified himself as a former ambassador to the Dominican Republic and "an adviser to the Haitian Army."

"This is our headquarters," he said. "The army has come back. We don't need peacekeepers."
<snip>

Mr. Powell told CNN: "We have ways of talking to the various rebel leaders. And I am pleased that at least so far they said they are not interested in violence any more, and they want to put down their arms."

They did not put down their guns.
<snip>

Many rebels wore surplus United States military garb. One sported a souvenir Drug Enforcement Administration baseball cap. They all carried assault weapons, carbines and handguns. <snip>

12. It will be interesting to see...
how our black leaders who are personal friends with Aristide, will handle this blatant coup. It'll also be interesting to see how Mrs. Aristide reacts to being kidnapped by her own government.

So Frank, it's not over, yet.

14. No
The oldtimers in the military are getting nervous. Our troops are already spread to breaking point. Now we're going to send 2,000 marines to Haiti?

"Something's amiss."
