1. It seems unlikely to me that lesbians and gay men --
-- will very soon be flying commercial jets into skyscrapers as an assertion of their right to same-sex marriage.

I have never heard of Dennis Prager, but I hope he is eviscerated by large sub-Saharan animals no later than this weekend.

7. Hi, Sugarbleus.
Sure enjoyed the Dylan quote in your signature line. Hadn't thought of it for awhile and then bam, there it was. A nice lift for me to see it. Thanks.

this is not pretty.

Bush did himself a disservice by endorsing this amendment.
Now, all the right-wing loonies will come out and spew their
hatred of GLBT to America. It will probably turn off a lot of
people.

The KKK already showed up in San Francisco.

(copy and paste link to see it)

Charles Lee, (C), the Grand Dragon of a faction of the Ku
Klux Klan, was one of a handful of verbal protesters who
screamed at gay couples as they gathered outside the Harris
County clerk's office in Houston, February 13, 2004. About 30
gay couples paraded into the clerk's office to request
marriage licenses to protest the Defense of Marriage Act which
prevents Texas from legally recognizing same-sex unions. The
couples were denied. REUTERS/Carlos Sanchez

(photo is inflammatory)

It is only a matter of time before Phelps is shown on Faux
News every day.

The downside? GLBT people will face widespread hatred in
public.

6. Wow, the pic was there the first time, then *poof* anyway
this news is truely disturbing and, yes, I can see how this type of anti-social talk can bring a world of hurt down on our GL citizens. It is abominable.

The guys with the signs in SF are so dumb. Don't they KNOW that we don't use old testament laws in Christianity?? Elstwise, they would be in trouble for tattoos, pork consumption, wearing mixed fabrics, etc etc.

DUMBASSES :dunce:

11. It is kind of inflammatory
that is why I didn't post it.

Things won't look too pretty for GLBT within the next few years. Expect widespread hatred.

17. Sugarbleus...
...that's the thing, they DON'T realize the bible isn't actual law.

A good example: last night, I was playing over at pogo.com before heading off to bed. I was in one of the many rainbow rooms they have over there playing my game and minding my own business. However, something caught my attention, somone posted "what about gay marriage, good or bad?"

I wrote back with, well gay marriage is equality and equality is good.

With that this jerk wrote back and said "what about the bible?"

I said, what about separation of church and state? And what about the constitution?

Then I went on and asked this jerk off if he had even read the constitution. Then I explained to him that I was in fact Australian and had read every last word of the U.S. constitution.

He ended up coming back with "what does separation have to do with anything?"

What a dweeb. I wrote back and told him, well if he didn't know I wasn't about to tell him. But I suggest he go learn some stuff if he intends to try and debate people on issues.

They really do not get it.

It is going to get pretty bad now. I bet we see more Matthew Sheppards, and Brandon Teena's before long.

Bush* won't give a flying fart in a jar about it though. Queers aren't people to him.

9. Dude is arguing with himself
First, he notes that America is a religious society with secular laws. Then argues that secular laws will affect society's religious sensibilities.

Idiot.

12. um . . . no . . .
America is engaged in two wars for the survival of its civilization. The war over same-sex marriage and the war against Islamic totalitarianism are actually two fronts in the same war -- a war for the preservation of the unique American creation known as Judeo-Christian civilization.

"One enemy is religious extremism. The other is secular extremism.

One enemy is led from abroad. The other is directed from home.

the war against religious extremism is a domestic one . . . what really threatens "the unique American creation known as Judeo-Christian civilization" is right-wing Christian fundamentalism . . . which wants to do away with America's historic tolerance for all religious beliefs and create a theocracy wherein every citizen accepts Jesus Christ as their personal lord and savior . . . wherein public policy is dictated by the extreme religious beliefs of a small percentage of the population . . . wherein judges are appointed based on their adherence to fundamentalist Christian precepts . . . THIS is the war we're fighting, and the enemy is FAR more threatening than the Islamic totalitarianism of which Prager speaks . . . the man is ill-informed, misguided, and an idiot . . .

14. So over the top, you'd think it was a parody
and an unsubtle one, at that. The unique American creation known as Judeo-Christian civilization? America created Jewish or Christian ideas? America created a civilization? This guy is so dumb, I'm surprised they let him pass 3rd grade.

America leads the battle against both religious and secular nihilism; well, I can't see Islamicism as nihilist - it's very specific about compulsory religion - just not Prager's religion, that's all. This guy needs a dictionary.

And the rest of the article is a series of straw men - gross distortions of what same-sex marriage means, or what the left want.

There's just one thing he's got right: The "Left" (don't you love the capitalisation, as if it's an official group?) is against
exceptionalism (as opposed to universalism, multiculturalism and multilateralism)
Yes, the left doesn't think that America is God's Chosen Country, or that America, and only America, has all the right answers. There's a phrase in Britain - "little Englander" - for someone who thinks they have all the answers, are superior to the rest of the world, and don't need outside contact. "Bigot" is the more generalised term.

From his biography: Mr. Prager was a Fellow at Columbia University's School of International Affairs. Look up Prager and Columbia on Google, and you mainly find an article describing how he 'found God' there. No mention of any papers he produced. Is this why he was a Fellow? He got some ridiculous idea of "we are God's Chosen", and this is incompatible with having an intelligent understanding of international affairs?

15. Well, this is not surprising.
I read an editorial from an Alabama newspaper that called for the killing of gay people. So much for those "decency" standards huh. The extreme right is feeling the tide turning and they are beginning to lose the war against the Country that they started. I envision a burst of violence from them, they won't go quietly (I just wish they'd go).
