What new jobs? What am I not understanding?
Okay, it's a given that there are no jobs being created. However, there's all this happy talk about outsourcing jobs to free the American labor force to do new high whatever jobs in this 21st century world. What exactly are these jobs which are so wonderful that we have to lose our manufacturing base so that we can do them? I have not heard one job title named. We can't all be CEOs, financiers, etc. What the heck are they talking about and how do we articulate this boondoggle so that the entire nation gets it? Why does noone ask one of these free traders to tell us what these jobs are? Name them.

1. Crawling under houses digging them out
My pest control company is looking for someone who will do termite jobs. This often consists of crawling under houses and trenching them or even digging them out if the wood is too close to the ground. I've tried to convince my employer that the reason he can't keep help is that he won't pay over $5.50 an hour with no benefits, but he won't listen.....

2. the new jobs will appear in the Glorious Future, Comrade!
Ya, comrade, if you apply the correct principles of Free Market Fundamentalism you will see that the Free Trade Dialectic will inevitably solve the contradictions. Just give our fearless leaders some time.

Whatever you do, don't be a running pig and suggest hated protectionism! That would be reactionary!

3. Dream Weaver - Have You Not Heard
The Bush Administration plans to put all the unemployed in suspended animation for $ 1.00 per hour.

Any breakthroughs or original ideas we have while in dreamland are property of the government and corporations.

Think of it as sleeping euthanasia.
