Check out this stupendously idiotic statement Cheney made today
from Josh Marshall's site:

Out of the mouths of babes.

Or not so babes ...

"If the Democratic policies had been pursued over the last two or three years, the kind of tax increases that both Kerry and Edwards have talked about, we would not have had the kind of job growth that we've had."

That was Dick Cheney today on how much worse things would have been if the Democrats had been in instead of Bush.

Now, where to start on this?

1. It is the exact truth
We would have had substantially better than minus job growth that Bush* has brought us. He spoke the truth without knowing it.

14. Bandit, you're correct, however there are tens of millions...
...of dolts out there who will assume we REALLY had job growth under the regime. So, Oil-Slick Dick can have his cake and eat it too.

2. Actually he may be right
Without the policies that were put in place we might have had POSITIVE job growth not negative.

5. Ehh, if I remember correctly, Gore was speaking about
taking the surplus to pay down the debt, shore up SS and Medicare and then giving a real tax cut when we were solvent. I don't remember any mention of tax increases then. Also, doesn't he read his government's own stats on unemployment, or has the lying become so ingrained they can't stop no matter how idiotic they appear?

7. He's probably getting senile
Let's face it - the glue is becoming undone

1. Quagmire In Iraq - Hey we're winning the war on terror it's too bad that every so often about 200 people die in a day of bombings.

2. Record Job Loss with no chance of a significant turnaround by November .

3. Record Deficits.

4. Haliburton Scandals.

5. Futility of Constitutional Change to fight culture wars.

Or Maybe :

Hell he lies/obfuscates/double speaks so much & gets away with it he figured he'd do it again

12. Welcome to DU, AJ BENDER
Lest we forget, it's Cheney's office that is implicated in the Plame scandal, the Energy Panel scandal and the WMDs/OSP pre-war LIES scandal. Once all of the dots are connected Cheney can look forward to doing the frog march. His response is out of desperation.

11. Remember...
his words will be heard throughout the media, to people who do not realise the media is controlled by neo-cons. What he's say will be taken as truth, because people out there still consider the media as a credible and reliable source of info.

We wouldn't have had the kind of job growth we've had. We would have REAL job growth instead of FANTASY job growth. It would be a net PLUS for jobs instead of a net LOSS under Bush and Co. Cheney walked right into that one.

19. He will continue to tell these lies.
Until the media confronts him on them. When the interviewer simply lets these statements slide, as they have always done in the past, there is no reason for Cheney to be truthful. How I would love for an interviewer to say "Wait a minute, that's just not true!" and see what Cheney's response might be. But with this bunch of whoring media, I know I'm not going to hold my breath.
